I found a 70 OSSA Pioneer that has been is storage for 30. I can get the bike for $250, the engine is free and appears to shift through the gear. I am not sure if the Pioneer came with lights but if it did they are missing, other than that the bike is complete. The price is too good to pass up, problem is I have no idea where I would put the bike, I already have 4 bikes and a garage that is packed full of junk. Talk me out of the purchase my kids will thank you when I die and there is one less piece of junk for them to deal with.
I know a local guy had a Ossa pioneer back in the late 70's and they were hard to get parts then. It looked a lot like this one and had lights and it was street legal. Would I buy a decent one for $250 ? Sure if I thought I could get it running and ride it cheap. But not for a restoration project, You would probably spend twice what it is worth building it.
I owned one and it was a great bike for the woods and enduros back in the 1970s. But...I think that this bit of history should remain a fond memory. I wouldn't buy that one for sale.YMMV.
I'll go 180 out from those who already posted and say BUY IT! AHRMA guys like them to a point, and they were very reliable and fun bikes. I seem to remember parts are still available for the motor which is all that is specific marts. PLUS, if it is one like in the picture, they are friggin SWEET to look at! http://www.ossaworld.com/ http://ossaengineering.com/services.htm two parts sources.
I guess I got lucky some other fool purchased the OSSA, a bit bummed that it sold so fast at $250, it had sat for $500 for weeks without selling. I have too many other projects to take on one more so I am also glad that someone else now owns the bike.
