Tried washing it a few times, (by itself, plenty of soap, super large load)

even tried brushing it with stain removal, it wont come off, id say like %70 of the mud stains came off, (jacket was covered in mud and red clay from playing in the hills :D), but now i want to get it nice and clean again, what else can i try?

I get out and ride dirt every single weekend, sometimes both sat and sun, and ill admit, i let the mud sit on the jacket for a couple of months.

    Just leave it.

When you attend formal events, use a formal jacket.

Spray it down with a LOT of Shout Advanced Action Gel (It is in a 14oz blue bottle), it might take 2 or more bottles. Roll it up tightly and place in a garbage bag and just let it sit for 5 or 6 days. Then wash it again. When I do it I stuff the garbage bag in a pail and turn it end for end every day to keep the Shout from running to the bottom.

The giveaway is that you say the stains are from red clay. The red colour comes from iron oxide, otherwise known as rust. You essentially have rust stains on your jacket.

There is stuff called CLR that I have used to remove rust stains from a concrete driveway. Although corrosive, it is supposed to be environmentally friendly. You could try using some of that with a stiff brush (wearing rubber gloves) to see if it will remove the stains. Then run it through the washer.

I put my riding gear in a 5 gal bucket of water with Dawn dishwashing detergent.Stuff it in the bucket "under the water" and leave it soak a few days.

Add oxy clean to the list. I live in a clay area and it helps. Light colors are tough. Carpet cleaners, Shout, and Resolve also show up in dirt bike posts

Thanks for all the suggestions inmates!

I will just have to wear it like it is i guess, dont mind it being muddy and dirty in the winter rainy season, just wanted to have it nice and clean for some summer time rides.

I will try those other things suggested here, starting with carpet cleaner, since i have some heavy duty commercial grade stuff, just never thought about trying that before.

I see Oxy on the list. You can buy "Sodium Percarbonate" (bleach substitute) for a lot cheaper than Oxy and it is the same stuff, just that one is stabilized and marked up as "Oxy".

"Washing Soda" is the more common name. Mix in a garbage pail and drop the jacket in there for a few hours. I think 4 hrs and then the SP/WS looses its effect.

Red clay.....Lots of that on the family farm when I grew up.Not as easy to clean as the blue stuff that's under my property.:eek1

Anything with bleach worries me, since the jacket also has black sections,

I know it's probably your favorite jacket, but jackets are relatively cheap. Do your best with the Dawn etc. and buy another? Maybe a red one? :lol3

I know Folex instant carpet cleaner will take merlot out of a light beige rug. If I really wanted to get it clean I would try it on a small part first.

Thanks, i might give that a try.

i did another wash with the Carpet Cleaner, and it came out a bit better, but it looks like the red stains are in the fabric, oh well, guess its set in there.
