As a companion thread to The Tent Space List I thought it might be nice if there was a thread listing good campsites that folks here have enjoyed.

If you have a place you'd recommend to other ADV folk, please post the info.

It would be nice if all listings included the following:

    1) State / Town / Region
    2) GPS co-ords
    3) Fee / no fee
    4) Features ... table / firering / shower / wi-fi / noisy crowds
    5) Whatever else impressed you, or annoyed you

I'll use the same format as The Tent Space List. This first post will grow to include the basic location info of the campsite and a reference to your post with the more detailed info. If you make a post, and then think of, or find another nifty campsite, make a new post rather then editting your first post. I won't be reviewing posts to see if you added new locations.

Thanx to everyone who pitches in.

    be well, g

We have something like this in the Europe area as a sticky. I think it's a good idea.

This is the rock condo that you will get at "Valley of Fire", Nevada (Arch Campground, the best one!) for $14 a night which also includes the Park's entry fee. Hot showers, head, water, NO power, very nice people. 15 miles from Overton, the city.

You can read much more about it here , (a true to form ride report on my website!), feel free with questions, we have been camping for 5 months now... 6 months a year the past 20 years with over a million miles... and I will go back to my favorite spots and start posting them... many free!

If you are coming from the West do the route through Lake Mead National Park!!! 50 miles of pure heavenly riding... have camera and many batteries!!!

Kissing cousins to Garner State Park, Beautiful area hot showers is busy during camping season but the folks are so nice (I ended up loaning fleece jackets to a couple who were going out evening hiking and hadnt prepared) Next to some of the best roads in the hill country, less than 8 miles from the motorcycle museum in vanderoot.

Roughly 12 miles of hiking trail (no vehicle, foot only) that is worth a weekend trip by itself.

This is a Campground about 12 miles south of Sedona on 179. Passes Hwy #17 and the Ranger's Office.
    Lat 34.40
    Long 111.42
$15 a night which sounds a bit pricey but this is the Sedona area, closer to town the fees go up to $50+!!!
Water, outhouses, no showers BUT a great creek with a pool within feet for your daily bath...:lol3
Great Hosts, Patrick and his wife with a lot of knowledge about the area.
Great place to camp if you are going to sightsee the area or do some hiking.

    My best campsite ever:

    Vildmarkscamping Urshult in Sweden.
Nice campground in the middle of the woods and only
2mls from nowhere. Free wood for camp fires, great
surroundings, no electricity, no comfort but really
what camping is ment to be. I just love it.

    Okay....

    Bon Echo Provincial Park.

20 km north of Kaladar, Ontario, on hwy 41. Near Cloyne. N44 53.807 W77 12.720 It's about a 100 miles from the border crossing at the 1000 Islands Bridge.

Beautiful place, with all manner of sites between full hook up to hike in. Clean facilities: shower/toilet/laundry, that sort of thing. Small boat and canoe rental on site, worth renting a canoe to go out on Mazinaw Lake. Good fishing, nice beach.

    Website.

Most folks say it's one of nicest parks in Ontario. I like it. Boy loves it. :lol3

Their are several on the right hand side as you enter Mammoth. They are the usual Forest Service campsites. You can get a site at the Mammoth Mountain RV Park across the street for more money and more services, pool, showers, etc.

    its Free, and really nice.

they have a picnic table and a grill at each campsite. there is a restroom house within a couple of hundred feet. it's not super private, but it is clean and has a baseball field in the park, they were playing when we got there, but finished up just after dark.

it's an easy day from the tetons and yellowstone, salt lake city, a medium day from the black hills. we picked up some charcoal, stuff to make burgers on the grill and beer and had one of the most relaxing evenings on the cross country trip. apparently its a town that's huge with rock climbers and big game hunters.
