Chappy? If it was, it was one of the bikes I wanted as a kid. Suzuki make one that was sorta similar...I forgot what it was called.
Yes Chappy. It was an automatic. I got it new and it was a hellion. We used to collect ber cans to get gas for it. In between the seat and the handle bars would hold a crocker sack bag full of cans. At that tim in 1978 gas was only $.75 a gallon and we would recycle about $35 worth of cans & bottles about every 2 weeks so we were good for a while on gas. I rode that abut 2 years and then upgraded to a 1980 yamaha dt 175. SWEET . First street leagal bike. Sorry got off on a tangent. Yes Yamaha Chappy Google it it was about " 800- 1000 new "
Hi BUBB! There was a thread about you in JoMomma. We hadn't seen you in forever and were worried about you. Glad you're still here
Would like to show you all some pictures of my scoot. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/dcstroker/Picture640.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/dcstroker/Picture641.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/dcstroker/Picture643.jpg
1986 Yamaha Towny bought for $100 five years a go It had 78 miles on it. It started on the 2nd kick. And It makes me HAPPY
That's better than my Tomos that I got for free that won't start... The Tomos would be the one in front of the Ruckus (obviously).
Saw a green Tomos that looked a lot like that one at the NC State fairgrounds fleamarket today. (stock exhaust, though...) As usual, since it had a motor, I was attracted to it. What's the top speed on one of those, stock? 28-30 or so? More?
I'm not sure, it wasn't running when I got it. All I knew was that somebody had pushed the thing over and cut the fuel lines... My folks took it to a motorcycle shop, and they got it running... and they took it home, and dad rode it around the yard once, and it stopped running. And hasn't started, since.
Scootersource had a Tomos moped in their shop this weekend. I'm not sure of the model, but it said "M-Class Cycle" on the chainguard. Black with grey plastic/nylon mags. It was blowing all types of oily gunk out the exhaust when they were trying to start it. They ended up taking the entire carb out. I believe that they cleaned it out and made sure that it had spark. I wasn't paying too much attention because I was inventing new swear words trying to put a new drive belt on my Elite. Oh yeah, they did derestrict it and will be running it for awhile until the oil and crap stop flying out of the back end. It might be for sale...they are at scootersourceinc.com, but they haven't updated their website in awhile. Someone is there usually on Tues & Thurs evenings. I weigh 230 and it got up to 36mph with me in a tuck.
Maybe I ought to haul it down to Vespa Charlotte... heard a lot of good things about them... then again, I can just let it sit and not worry about it... that works, too. Savin' up for a dual sport.
A few shots from this years Dakar to cheer up you scooter fans... Dusk in St Louis Norther Senegal. Dakar. Dakar. And as there is not yet a Quad spot I'll add this here, as he made the effort to lift the front. A bit over saturated but there you go.. Bod.
