The Castle Odenkirchen is so close, I can push my bike to this. I'm born in Odenkirchen. In my youth it was used by the boyscouts. Today for diffrent city partys.

In the summertime it is totally crowded. But today it was cold and in the end rainey.

In the oldtimes, a lot of people living in this castel. The foundation family get the name after the place they lived, "von Berg". And later give their name to the district they are owned "Bergisches Land"

Sunday we did a nice long ride thru the niederrhein area and visit "Schloss Anholt", a water castel

When we come back to the garage sunday evening, I know I have to buy a new battery for the ADVenture.
It didn't work okay any more. Eight years old. So I change today and have to do a ride
to proof it and load it :deal

After 50km I take a look to my navigationsystem and look for a castel nearby

Maybe you have read abut the racechampion von Trips http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_von_Trips
His family owned this castel. He did 1961 in a Formel 1 Race in Monza http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPKpV81hC04

Last Saturday we have to go to childrens brithday party in Siegen. Only 150km from our hometown. The wether wasn't that bad and so we want to extend the riding, before standing on a party the night.

First stop is "Schloss Bentheim" in Düsseldorf, the district town of "Nordrhein Westfalen"
    [IMG] [IMG]

Later we come to Castel Zweifel. "Zweifel" is the german word for "doubts"
    [IMG] [IMG]

In Siegen we found the upper castel. . . (Mrs.Horton at work)
    [IMG] [IMG]

And the bottom castel. . .
    [IMG] [IMG]

The next day, the wether changed. And so we come back a little wet and dirty. But before, we visited
    Castel Windeck. . .

. . .and the water castel Mauel. The signpost in the right corner, talking about private propertiy
    [IMG] [IMG]

For this castel we didn't found any name. . .

Man, you guys in Europe are lucky, with your castles and history. I think our versions of castles here are Supermarkets or malls. Love the pictures.:clap

Hey, it should be raining in this pic. It's never sunny in Germany.

Nice pic though, when were you there and what part of the Rhine is that?
