. There are lots and lots of incredible Ride Reports of trips to lots and lots of places, near and far, on lots and lots of different bikes. Let's make this one Harley-specific, shall we? Sportster, Dyna, Softail, Touring, new, old, whatever ... JUST WHERE IN THE WORLD HAVE YOU BEEN? ... Around the block or around the world? ... How'd you prepare? ... How long did you take? ... What would you do differently? This will also be a great place for those who hesitate to start their own long Ride Report thread to post a short version! ... Please don't do a full-on, multi-page ride report, just a nice capsulization with a few photos would be great. Now, who'd like to be the first to share with the class? ... .
:eek1 x2^google IMHO, best RR ever, and still going. Also, this thread should be moved, it's not a RR but a request.
Oh yes, we all have, but you're missing the point. Doug has one big ride report, which is awesome ... I've read the whole thing. What I'm looking for is a collection of short reports and a few photos from each all in one thread. It's a simple concept, no?
La La Land & Atl w/ North Ga, Tenn, NC (Dragon Ride) On a rented HD Heritage Softail. But I'll take my Honda VTR any day
In the spring of '08 I took 2 months and my '02 HD Electra Glide for a little 14K (and change) run around the US. Left central VA and headed to Key West, Fl. From there to L.A., Ca to the Santa Monica pier, then up to a little north of Seatle, WA. (with a side trip out to Reno, NV to go see my brother). From Washington state I headed to Bangor, Maine and then back home. Stayed on secondary roads as much as possible and had a blast. Here are some pictures. All set and ready to leave. On one of several ferries that I took while on this trip. This one was in Louisiana. The only Harley dealer I've ever seen in the US that also carried other brand motorcycles (besides Buell of course). This one was in Roswell, NM I think. White Sands National Monument, NM. Saguaro National park just outside of Tuscon, AZ. Joshua Tree national park, CA. Riding along the PCH, somewhere north of Cambria, CA. Lincoln City, OR. Alright, that's it. I think I've highjacked the thread enough. Hope y'all enjoy!
Round-I-Go: I think you've hit on a very good idea and XC Rider has got it off to a great start. I have taken numerous local "1000+ mile" rides on my '95 FXDL but only recently got into the digital age so no photos. I will fill some space in here after the ride we're planning from SoCal to Utah starting on 11/1/09. Keep watching this space! Thanks for the great idea!
Look up Peter Forwood. He is the only person in the history of the world to put the same vehicle in every single country on the planet. And yes, it's a Harley. He's still out there riding around too. His blog is on Horizons Unlimited.
There's this one: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29722&highlight=uncledirty Don't know what happen to my pics, guess I could dig them off the hard drive somewhere. I rode the same RK back from SoCal to move to Memphis in Sep 2007. Took the same RK from Disgusta, GA, to Boston, Orlando one year (before I joined this group), don't think I have pics from that. Spent 12 years in Germany riding a Sportster and a Springer all over Europe (20 years ago before I retired from the Army), you want ride reports that old, if I can find the pics to scan in? Dirty
XC Rider, this is exactly what we're lookin' for! Nice little report... And about the 3rd pic ... ? ... they do things a little differently in Roswell ...
I have a somewhat dark ride report that I just started here on the site: Cathardic Drift: From Chicago, North and West It's about 2500 from Chicago to Northern Wisconsin, across Minnesota, South Dakota and a bit of Wyoming. It will have more pictures and the pleasantness will increase as time goes by. Here's a pic of me and the bike:
I gotta dig up the pics eventually.... but in 2007 we sailed a traditional double hulled Hawaiian sailing canoe(Hokule'a) to Japan, while in Okinawa, I met a cool guy from a couple of town over from my home town, and borrowed his wifes sportster 100anny model to tour the island.... Man it was a blast, on the wrong side of the road, riding through stealthy speed traps... and getting some interesting looks from everyone.... can't wait to do it again!
With my Sporty-rig I´ve been to Morocco and Western Sahara. More pics at www.project-yesterdays.de (with building the hack, movie review and a lot of more information) and movie-Trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esa02J1sIuA (starts at sec. 25). Winterbiker
