One thing I notice on the TPMs is that battery is really loose, would just fall right out if you tipped it the right way. If its that loose I bet it could be making intermittent contact causing some issues. When I installed them I pushed the top of down a bit to make a snugger fit. So far no issues but I haven't roaded tested it yet since there is still ice on the driveway

I did the same thing to make the battery fit tightly, but it had effect on fixing the problem.

Firmware version 3.10 is out.

Changes made from version 2.80 to 3.10:
Added Dynamic Fuel Stops feature.
Improved Garmin Express support.
Improved performance of InstaSearch suggestions.
Added the ability to search a multi-route trip.
Improved the user experience for incoming calls.
Fixed an issue that could cause the GPS signal to be lost in mountainous areas.
Fixed an issue that could cause the active route to be terminated.
Fixed an issue that could cause the itinerary to display incorrectly.
Fixed an issue that could cause excessive search results.
Improved software stability.

Bonus! A new version of Garmin Express, the 2015.4 maps are finally in, and the firmware update.

Time to get the updates and test out the new router and 60 mbps internet speed.

is there a way to load multiple lat -long coords into the 590 easily for future trips

and where would they go to store then be able to retrieve them

i can only see to put them in every-time you want to go some where individually in the co-ords bit

i have downloaded it for here in aus if there is a difference ???
only thing i have looked at so far was to see if the maps were up to date and its showing a new bypass road already on it and its not even finished yet????????? so there good

Waypoint:

A set of coordinates that identify a point in physical space relative to the surface of the Earth.

When you import them they will be in the WhereTo? > Saved location. Waypoints are often referred to as: Favorites, Saved Places, Via Points (when used in a Route), Points of Interest (when specially processed).

P.S, You really ought take a Basic GPS Class if you want to get the most out of your zumo 590LM.

This is pretty basic functionality in waypoints. A great way to handle this would be to use Basecamp. Here is a nice tutorial that can teach you very quickly how to organize data including waypoints, routes and tracks, and make it useful in planning trips. http://www.newenglandriders.org/Learn_BaseCamp_PC.pdf

Is the transflective screen of the 590 difficult to see wearing polarized sunglasses? The 660 (TFT screen) is hard to see with polarized sunglasses on.

I spoke with Garmin this morning about this. The guy did not know the answer but consulted some other folks at Garmin. They came up with that 590 might be a bit better with polarized glasses than the 660, but not much.

I was hoping a 590 owner with real experience to speak up about this.

The 590 screen using the transflective display is nearly 3D and highly visible in direct sunlight. Polarized glasses make the screen harder to see. Polarized glasses plus a helmet visor can make it pretty hard to read under some angles. I try to use non-polarized sunglasses on the bike as it makes ALL screens harder to see, including bike instrumentation, smartphones etc. Polarized glasses alone do not make it unreadable.

I noticed this yesterday.....a lot depends on how the polarization on the sunglasses match up with the popularization on the screen. If you turn the screen or the glasses eventually you will just see a black screen. So with that said changing the angle of the GPS in relation to you line of site may make things better. You'll need to play with it.

Think of it like two combs when the teeth alternately line up you can't see through it but when they align together you can....

I recently applied the new firmware update to the Zumo 590. Today I noticed that when the GPS gave audio directions and muted the music from my iPhone, the music did not resume. I'm wondering if this is a bug with the new firmware update, or if anyone else has experienced this.

Music mutes after each turn instruction and does not resume. The media player shows pause is available and music appears to continue but is not heard in the headset. Pushing pause, then play restarts the music. This is repeated dozens of times.

I'll report to Garmin but would like to know if anyone else has updated and has this problem.

Ive been debating whether to risk the firmware update but was waiting for someone to chime in with a real world report.

Toms problem would really piss me off but luckily I use tracks 90% of the time.

Anyone else got anything to report, good or bad

One thing that has been irratating with the Bluetooth is how it connects to my Sena and Galaxy S3. I can get them both to pair but sometimes I can't get it to connect to the phone for calls. I connects to the smartphone Link but even when I go into bluetooth settings it won't connect to the phone for calls. If I un-pair it and re-pair everything it works...until the next time....

Is there an order I should power things up to allow them to connect....

Right now its been Sena....connect to phone then the GPS comes on....

I really would like it to just pair up without having to screw with it every time I get on the bike.

Running updated Software on all units.

I wondering if the problem for me is that the Sena is connected to the phone and the GPS. I think I will try to unpair the phone from the Sena and just have it pair to the 590. This way phone connectivity has to go through the 590.

the downside is when I want to use the Sena with just the phone I'll have to pair it. I have another bike that doesn't have a 590 mount on it I'll have to do that for.

Okay, there does appear to be a bug in the latest firmware. I'll contact Garmin today and report it. I use uClear BT headsets, and the fault is not in those. Both units had the same issue, and I did learn the manual workaround was to restart the music by pressing pause and then play in the Media Player. Not what you want to be doing when riding a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, if you have not upgraded the firmware, I advise you NOT to do it.

[FONT=&quot]Voice directions mutes the media player, but does not resume music when voice direction concludes. To restart music requires user to open media player, push pause, then push play. This occurs for every voice direction interruption when music is being played. This issue is repeatable and has been experienced by multiple users on ADVrider Forum. The distraction of having to reset music repeatedly creates an unsafe condition on the motorcycle.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Why does everything Garmin have to be such a crap shoot with the firmware. Very frustrating.
