With the cool threads on here of late about abandoned military places etc I was thinking about ghost towns and how you can have old wild west ghost towns (thankyou for the fab TAT pics) AND you can have modern ghost towns (what's that place where the ground underground is on fire?) where businesses and people have moved away and times are hard and the town just dies a sad slow death.......

Anyway, can anyone post their pics for me? i'd love to see them!

    thanks in advance!!

This wasn't really a ghost town but I sneaked into this old mining camp where is was being used to hold a flock of sheep.

Not the most spectacular pics.... Centralia, PA - mostly abandoned/condemned after an underground mine fire, which has been continuously burning for the past 4 decades or so.

Rush, AR. An old zinc mining town that was a going concern till the 60's. It's part of the Buffalo River Historical District now. The guys in the pics are some friends from the Floribama Riders who were here for a visit.

Hey Shaggie, I wish I had more pics but my camera died while we were there. It really is a very interesting place to visit, despite the fact that there's basically nothing there, and the smell of the air is ... interesting... to say the least. I should be back there later this summer and will get better pics.

Here's some pictures of Detroit summer 2007. A real modern ghost town, these pictures were taken not far from downtown.

I'm not really sure how everything happened, but there are a lot of neighborhoods in Detroit that are disappearing. When a house in Detroit gets damaged like that one in a fire, the value of the house is less than what it would cost to repair it, so it sits like that until the city tears it down (which could be years).

You can see more in my RR (link in my signature).
