I have a couple possibilites for bikes scoped out. Will i need a ORV sticker if i'm running a virginia plate? I don't remember paying anything at wildcat but i was on a rented bike that had all the stickers and rv plate. I assume i need a spark arrestor too but if you think of any other requirements needed, let me know.

Flying in tonight, looking forward to some desert exploring:clap

i don't THINK you'll need an ohv sticker, as we're staging in an ohv area and riding out of it. i suppose by the letter of the law, you should have one. all gov't agencies are looking for revenue, and this sticker is another way to generate that.

If you guys are going in the afternoon I would like you join you if OK. Have you pinned down a start time on Tuesday? I've done this ride several times, and it is a good ride only mildly challenging like crossing the bolder strewn Dead Man’s Wash or climbing up to the bridge from the east side. Are you planning on riding it clockwise or counterclockwise? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Over a year ago the last time I rode it; after crossing under the Horseshoe Res spill over, a ranger flagged me over and said told me that the power company (who controls the dam) may shut down the access at anytime. He wanted to make sure that we didn’t get stuck on the east side and not have enough fuel to get back around. He suggested calling the ranger station prior to making the loop to make sure the spillway was open to cross.

love to have you, alphabetadog. we're going clockwise, easy way down from the bridge.

never had any issues crossing the damn. don't expect any this time, either.

as this is not "my" ride, i don't know the exact ride time, but when the time draws near, we'll know. probably sometime around 1:00 or so, i'm guessing.

If the planets align and I can sneak away from work, I would join you guys for this. I have been on this route twice in the past month, so I know it well.

i just drove this route today to pick up some kayaking buddies. it's gonna be a dusty ride. plus, they just bladed seven springs road recently, so it's loose.

escondeasy, you need to make the planets align. can't just wait for them to do it all by themselves.

Was that you with the trailer loading the yaks on the beach just south of the Bridge ? I took a couple of nOOb's out that way for an easy ride yesterday.

    It is a dusty sob....

Oh, we were out there around 11:30 am and there was a Guy picking up several Kayakers that look like they had spent the night somewhere along the river. I have always wanted to do that, best way to see the Verde I would think.

well, i guess this puts me as next in line. i'm gonna say 1300 kickstands up at wildcat staging area.

i'm with you, alphabetadog. i got almost all of tomorrows' tasks done today so i could go tomorrow.

    lets ride!

todd - that is the only stretch of un-damned river left in arizona. my buddies put in at childs and spent two days paddling against the wind. they said that if they didn't paddle, they'd go up-river! i'll wait for no wind for my trip. catch dinner while you float!
