Following the Thursday night showing of On Any Sunday part 2 let's go for a Friday ride. Anyone up for it?

Weather has been great and if it holds the conditions will be epic.

I'll draft up a couple GPS route options (big bike/small bike). Thinking a run to Fort Rock for lunch and back sounds good.

Someone will need to loan Brian a bike. :lol3

I would really like to join in, but work will get in the way.

    Have a good ride!

    UPDATE...

We'll meet up at the Black Bear Diner in Bend around 7 am Friday morning for anyone that wants to have coffee or breakfast or just BS with a plan to have kickstands up by 830 ish.

Putting the finishing touches on three routes from Bend to Fort Rock: one on trail/two track, one high speed gravel/service roads and another a mix of the two with a leaning toward faster roads.

There is gas in Fort Rock and the pub is expecting a group for lunch.

    More info to follow soon!

    Friends!

Come join us for a ride on Friday, December 19 (this coming Friday) for a ride to benefit the laid off mill workers at the Woodgrain plant in Prineville (see below). This is for all riders regardless of the type of bike or terrain you ride (dirt or street). If you have two wheels then this is you! We will meet at the Black Bear Diner in Bend on Friday morning the 19th (go here for location) around 7 am with kickstands up by 830 am. Come early for breakfast or show up at 830 for the ride. There will be door prizes, including a $100 Klim gift certificate (and other goodies we are working on).

For the dirt oriented riders, we have prepared three different GPS routes that will take us to Fort Rock for lunch (one route will be trail, one route gravel service roads and the third a bit of a mix). Email/PM us back if you would like the routes (still working on final touches). Street riders can grab the slab and meet up for lunch. Or…ride your own ride. It’s all good!

Of course, there will be an opportunity to donate on Friday morning; bring food, money and gift items if you can. We will deliver all collections on Saturday the 20th. But don’t let that stop you if you can’t. The weather in Central Oregon has been fabulous (mid 50s the last few days) and we are hoping it will hold through next week and it will be a great time to ride. If you are out of the area and cannot make the event, but would like to contribute, you can make a tax-deductible donation here through the Crook County Foundation (tax ID #93-1250270).

    About the Woodgrain Millwork closure

On November 14, a heavy snow collapsed a portion of the roof at Woodgrain Millwork in Prineville, one of two remaining mills in town. One week later, the company announced that it would not repair the damage and laid off nearly 200 of their 240 workers. Being that they are the third largest employer in a county with an unemployment rate already over 10%, this was devastating news for affected families and the county as a whole. News story here. Eight minute podcast here.

Questions? PM or email me at greg@highdesertadventures.net. Hope to see you all Friday morning!

    Let’s RIDE!
