err well finally got out for a ride in me new fox trekker helmet yesterday even if it was only a cuppla hours on the bruce hiway i reckon for $200 its awesome and every bit as good as my old arai xd at around a third of the price similar noise level to the arai similar comfort no vibration from the peak over a hundred vents worked well the visor doesnt click shut like the arai so i dont know how well itll seal in the rain i can only compare it to the arai as thats the only other peaked/visored helmet ive had but i likey! edit err sorry its actually a FLY trekker im goin insane in the membrane
Thanks phil, how does the shape compare with an xd (ie if you have an arai head does it fit?). At $200 it's about the price of a new visor + the screws that have aged on my arai. HOw's ventilation compared with the arai?

not sure what size my arai is...its worn off but it has a sticker that says 61-62cm it was pretty comfy on my head and so is this one the fly is an xl theres a vent at the chin and 3 vents on top it seems good, but its not exactly stinkin hot weather at the moment ive been waiting for a 2nd hand arai here on the flea market for a year now needed a new helmet for c to c posties saw this and bought it a wise scotsman from the wealthy suburbs of noosa said to me that hed rather buy a cheap helmet and replace it regularly than a dear one and feel chained to it for a long time as it cost so much
I have been wearing one of these for about 6months now, they are great value for money. One of the best features is being able to wear goggles with the visor up or down. Most of the other dual helmets need the goggles removed to shut the visor.
Interesting perspective. Personally I'd rather wear a helmet that fits irrespective of cost, because by the time I get around to replacing lids cost has been a very minor factor . Lets face it, they are HEAPS cheaper than tyres. (unless you fall off regularly). In fact I've probably spent as much on goggles / lenses during the life of my arai I went looking for a date on my arai and couldn't find it, but to put things in perspective it's a tourance xd and the lining is from a vx pro (ie it would have been one of the very early ones and they are 5 generations further advanced now). Back when I bought it I was replacing my fox pilots about every 2 years , and I've got an effectively unused fox pilot sitting next to my arai. Think I;ve just talked myself into another arai when the xd4 arrives.
I too have an Arai that needed replacing but didn't want to shell out the dollars. Bought the Fly Trekker and really pleased with it so far - very good value for money IMHO. Cheers.
I tried one of these on today. It was a THH which is the same thing as the FLY Trekker. Seemed to be well made for the price with a nice big goggle port. Unfortunately sizing didnt suit me as the large was too small and the XL too big. Going to try the Rjays Dakar as the fit is good on me. Need to go back to the shop this week with some goggles to make sure they will fit in the Dakar.
Bought mine a few weeks ago Phil, looks the goods. Got it from the States for $139. Will be trying it out properly in the Flinders later in the week......it certainly feels comfortable so far ..
There are 3 different brand versions of this helmet and each has a half size different sizing system going by comparisons I found on USA web sites. Find one of the others and it may fit you.
I've been using the Fly Trekker for a while now. The THH version which is near on the same appeared to have what I considered a lower quality liner, however, that's a personal opinion/observation. The venting etc is good. In the wet I found it better to have the visor opened a little. Venting is good. I've had no issues with it although using my scalarider with it it gets a little crampy in the front with the mic. Have not tried goggles with it yet however it was a factor when I purchased it that I could use goggles with it with the visor up or down. They catch flys into your ears pretty well with the visor up....think maybe that's why it's called the Fly Trekker??

nope I have a sonic helmet that looks identical the the fly trekker but its got a second tinted visor that goes over the clear visor. when the clear visor is down you can then have the tinted one up or down. Its a bloody good idea
