Does Endurocross count as trials riding?

Yeah, I know that the answer is "NO."

But how about carrying a trials bike over obstacles? Does that count?

This is the latest video from Enduro Alaska documenting (partially) the Trialscross category:

    <object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cp3m6c5XSnU?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cp3m6c5XSnU?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="853" height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Now that it's over, I've been thinking about growing up and getting serious about trials.

Does anyone have a lead on a relatively late model bike in the Seattle area? Craigslist isn't flooded with trials bikes like I though it would be.

    Thanks for watching guys.

I have a perfect trials bike-sized crate sitting in the Seattle area. I was hoping to find something newer, shinier and easier to find parts for than the Rotax-powered Scorpa. The shiny bike would be put in that crate and shipped back to Alaska.

If anyone knows of a worthy successor, please let me know. The Scorpa will take up permanent residence down there and will be ridden more sparingly than the daily driver.

    Is VxZeroKnots a rotorhead name?

Thanks for the help with the search for a new set of wheels. I appreciate the PMs.

In the end, since I was going to probably buy a bike that I wouldn't see first, I went with a new one.

There will be a new GG280 Econo headed this way when I'm done raiding the kids' college fund.

MR. BW, didn't know you were a Trials rider also!
My hat is off to you for the Endurocross ride and video!!!
Maybe we should build a BW Trials bike and be REALLY different!
    I'm game...let's talk! :lol3

The Fat-tired Trials Bike has a tremendous amount of merit to it. That might be the only way I could possibly clean the rock section at the EX track.

Or maybe I should just be content with getting the swing arm bushings machined for the BWs. Ready for another project? I have one ready to mail to you.

    Regards,

    Mr. BigWheel

I really wish you had not brought up the concept of a BW trials bike. Now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

    Jamie,

You were my sole hope for unloading the Scorpa on an unsuspecting, unknowing trials enthusiast. You weren't supposed to watch the video. Now what am I going to do?

I guess I'll have to race it again next year and hope for the best.

    Shercoman,

I initially thought of all the guys on this forum who put 19" rear knobbies on the front with a wide supermoto rim. An 18" dirt knobbie would round out the rear of the package and you'd have the world's first Adventure Trials BIke.

But would that really be enough? Doesn't the GG or Sherco really deserve a 26'" atv tire on the front? And something ridiculously wide, maybe 12 inches wide, on the back?

I think that if you are going to go big, you should go Really Big.

    Regards,

    Mr. BigWheel

Maybe I'd take fewer points in the Trials if I had a flat profile 12 inch tire to balance on!!
    Would that be considered cheating?
