Last Sunday, NMTrailboss and I took my old beater Reflex out for some goofing off after trials practice on our Montesa 4RT's.
Notice Gordy in the background celebrating the end of his practice..... :lol3

Start off with small stuff. Man, this thing is heavy!

    A small ledge...

Followed with a semi-steep down, made even more fun with drum brakes :huh

A nice overhang to zap up. BIG unload to get the rear tyre on the rock!!

    NMTB tries it out.

    Showoff!!

    Dropoff for the 'Boss

It may be heavy, but it sure is slow! :lol3

'TB up a sandy, rubble strewn uphill.....

Now he's beginning to enjoy it!

After about 30 minutes of goofing off, NMTA Champ rider Sammy Fastle wanted to try out the old heap. Sammy is so young (15!) that we don't think he has ever ridden a trials bike with two shocks!

Now that's just wrong! Note the look on Sammy's face! :lol3

We packed it in on that note.

Fun can be had on your old junk too. Ride it, don't hide it! :thumb

If you never rode another trials bike, you'de swear that TLR was the most nimble bike on the planet...

Nice shots brewtus! Playing on the Reflex was a fun way to end the day. :nod Who knew we'd have enough fun to keep riding it for a couple more hours and 75 photos!! :lol3 Thanks for posting the pics! :thumb

Gordy expressed no interest in riding OJ. He left before we started. If he ever swings a leg over it, I'll try to record it! :lol3

Off topic - but I see that you have some handguards on the 4RT. What kind are they and do they fit w/o any difficulties?

The handguards are the Acerbis ones that do not have the aluminum bar molded into the plastic. The ones with the bar interfered with the clutch and front brake hydraulic lines. The solid plastic ones fit perfect with no mods! So far they have held up well. Bike was upside down last weekend and I still haven't replaced a lever on this bike in two years (did break the throttle cover though!) :shog
The guards with the bar molded in are now on the Reflex!

Very nice of you to say, but if you see it in person you'll see it's closer to a sow's ear than a silk purse! :lol3

A week after this thread was posted, NMTA Expert Ron Shoemaker brought out his beautifully restored TL125 our for some fun. His 125 started out much rougher than OJ did, but Ron did a great job of bringing it back to life!

Old OJ pales in comparison! :lol3

And a silly "art shot" of Honda 4-stroke trials bike evolution....

Another shot of the old warriors overlooking the Lower Pool area of San Ysidro.

Rusted or restored, junk or jewelry, I'll say it again-Ride 'em, don't hide 'em! :thumb

I will if you and Head Full of Snot will. They don't give trinkets for last.... Wow, that sounded harsher than I intended. I fully expect you upper class scorers to be on the lookout for those other beginners in your section. Upon seeing one I also fully expect you to whip out a GameBoy DS, whistle to get their attention, and fling said GameBoy DS out of the section causing them to follow the arc of the throw out of the section and causing them to "5". I haven't really given any thought to this. And no, I am not competitive. Gotta go. I'm off to GameStop. I have "camping" supplies to buy.:wave

I knew that would bring you out of ADV hiding!

Maybe we can place some strategic Snickers bars around the section and see if the "younger" beginners will dive for them! Hey...any advantage! Right?
