So I'm guessing that the mounting arms will reach the handle bars around the stock fairing? Do you happen to know what model bike you bought it for ? The xt225 is not listed.
Hey all a question regarding my wife's 2009 XT250 - In 1st gear when first accelerating from a stop or slowing and turning at slow speed in 1st gear the throttle feels what I can best describe as "twitchy" - like there is a momentary hesitation then the bike "lurches" with a slight increase in acceleration. It's a little hard to modulate the throttle smoothly when it does this. It happens at about 10% to 15% throttle in 1st gear. Mind you this is fairly subtle but it makes her a little nervous (she has not ridden in some time and is reacquainting herself with riding). It does not do this when riding slow in 2nd. Does this sound familiar to anyone and is there any way to rectify it? Or maybe this is normal? It's been a while since I've owned or ridden a carb'd bike regularly. My current bike is Injected and the throttle is very linear in all conditions. Thanks,
I don't have any specific information about your bike. But some bikes are like that. This is one reason many riding coaches recommend using the friction zone during slow speed maneuvers.
it works okay. Today i tried a larger one. She'd like the larger one. Find one on this page... http://www.happy-trail.com/Departments/Internal-Administration/Oversize-Windshields.aspx
The other way was to return the mixture screw plug to the factory setting of two turns out from a gentle seating when I found the tamper plug was missing
If you've got some time to kill here's a video off giving the xt a proper thrashing in the early snowfall we had here a couple weeks ago. http://youtu.be/VWpkw7C-gow Happy rally'n!
Mixture screw adjustment should be one of the first things you do when you get your hands on an XT225/(carb'd)250 XTs are jetted waaaaaaay lean stock. This behavior is typical of a carb that's idling too lean--you open the throttle and it gets a ton more air before the slide has moved much, so it bogs. When it's all caught up, it picks back up, violently if it's way off. Our '03 has the mixture screw about 2.25 turns out and a 42.5 pilot jet. It's jumpy enough when first started that I've popped an unintentional wheelie, but once warm it's nice and smooth.
my sister is in cle elum. I will have to see how far duvall is and maybe look you up when im visiting from boring-ass indiana.
Hmmm I may have to play with this when I get a chance. The guy I got my bike from had done nothing but ride it and park it outside. Its a little ugly but man is it fun in the sticks.
Question to the group. My bike will be here in a little over a month. I have been practice riding and picking up things like helmets, gloves, jackets, pants, and boots. A lot of it is hand me down stuff, so the fit isn't always right, but it will work until I can afford to get something that fits better. So now I am turning my attention to things I need to ensure I can go on a ride safely and return home. If you could list the top 5 things you would never leave the house on a bike without, what would they be?
