    Hi guys.

I would like to spend 15 days at the beginning of July doing something like that (each leg = one day):
    https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=...TrbX-inn2IO09l1siDHZM62LLZEa6Q&mra=ps&t=m&z=5

This is just a rough sketch, not even the first draft. I basically would like to slab 500-600 miles the first 2 and the last 2 days; take more time other days to ride twistier roads and make stops to check out things. Also I would take 1 day off from riding.

The bike is 2004 SV650S with Givi hardtop and soft saddlebags.
Originally I was planning to ship the bike back from West Cost and fly, but since I waited till the last minute, it looks like a much more expensive option.

Please let me know what you think.

Head down , tank full, throttle on. Repeat over and over.
It's going to be hard to have much fun on a trip like this.

That's exactly what I would like to avoid. The route is approximate, I would like to include a lot of backroads eventually. Do you think too many miles and not enough days?

That's the root of the problem . Two weeks to cross the continent is bliss, both ways in two weeks , trouble.
I like to explore at a pace of 300-350 miles a day. Zap 500- 600 miles through the familiar and slow down, not speed wise but stopping and looking in the new territory.
You can make it to Frisco and back in the 15 days, enjoying it will be harder.
When you see something breathtaking like a mountain range, river valley or canyon , it's frustrating to have the time monkey on your back when you'd like to sit and drink it all in.
You could look at this trip as a scouting trip to see what you'd like to spend more time doing when the oppourtunity presents.

Here's my new and improved map. I guess let me know if those any of the roads I picked and also whether there are any great things right off my route I should stop for:

Interested in what you decide. I am wanting to do a similar trip in 2014. My plan was to high tail it out to Denver then slow down a little and average aroung 300mi a day for roughly 12 days. My plan was to hit SF then head north to Seattle then back towards Denver in a similar loop to yours. I even thought about trucking the bike and gear out there so i could do the drive in one day and start riding the next. Good luck whatever you decide :thumb

I already decided! The details are here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808939

300 mi average a day is perfect. I didn't have the luxury of time, so I did more. I decided to visit SF on a separate weekend trip by plane with an option of renting a bike. 2014! You're planning way ahead !!:) Let me know if you need advice about routes and stuff.

    Thanks!
