Had a nice day...broke my chain, picked it off the street, 20 m behind the bike...fixed it with a hammer...idled it to the nearest shop...got a new one. Yeeey
I would like to see what difference there is with your balancing. What piston are you using? I was told by a reputable crank shop not to worry about it, and spent the money on port and polish. There are apps for smart phones that will measure vibration, maybe we could compare readings?
I too have snapped a chain. Not a master clip failure, but chain failure only to hit the gas and have nothing happen. Look down and I'm missing a chain. My buddy found it about 30 meters back from where I stopped. Thankfully no case damage. Did it while ripping some double track in Idaho. Thankfully just after the longest stretch of nothingness on the CDT. My buddy towed me into town as it went dark. Only fell once doing a hill climb. He pushed me into a deep rut. hah. Good times.
I also sent a PM today. I would be interested. We will see if they bring them out or not. When will we be able to order.
Isn't it Burpsa that always says the kick starter defines the man riding the bike. If you want an e-start, buy the 'L'adies version.
Ya I would like to See too, but just got bottom end together tonight, it will be a week before it will be a runner. got a 11.0 to 1 Wossner, I commented on it here http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=21471823&postcount=17079 Phone app ? I am using a windows phone, Its a bit app challenged I am finding but I like your idea.
The chain broke. The inner plates from a link just snapped. It was chain failure. I was getting off a sidewalk and gave it a kick to jump off it. After 20 meters, the chain was on the road.
Don't forget that you are already sweaty, thirsty, and beat to death from the 50 miles of single track before you crashed. However, when I am not struggling to hold the bike up, it does start quicker than many e-start bikes I have ridden. In fact, I find that when the e-start fails to start, giving it one good kick it fires.
Like when you're alone, stuck on a long steep hill that you just can't quite make it all the way up.....It's so steep the bike still rolls backwards when in gear. Taking your foot off the rear brake to kick it and you start rolling backwards before you even depress the clutch.....The XR spent the night in the woods that day...thank God for my SPOT (and caring family) Now at one cross country race, all of the electric bikes took off at the drop of the green flag for the dead engine start. Not me. I was giving it a third kick to start when the pile-up in turn one occurred. I motored around the outside of that mess and gained a lot of positions. Thank God for no electric start that time....
Aaaahh you're jealous (Crypto farkd up his cases for those who didn't know) To measure vibrations with a smartphone, the sensors are quick enough??? If so the blimmin' stuff surprises me even more :eek1
I think so. I have seen them used to balance small ducted fans (50mm) spinning up to 70k RPM, and I have used a couple apps to compare changes in shock valving on my truck, as if my ass doesn't know. They seem to work, and on my phone it gives velocity on 3 axis. Amazing technology in your pocket that used to only be available to major labs and such.
Anyone know if Chinese eBay radiators (on a budget )will fit with the Acerbis 6.3 gallon tank with Hodaka guy brace?
I've got a Baja Designs DS kit and a trailtech vapor together on the bike. The Vapor draws power from the same wires as the DS kit (which has no issues at all). The trailtech will SOMETIMES reset trip data and the clock when I kill the engine on the pig by pushing the DS slider switch down to OFF (the trailtech goes completely blank, then when I start the bike again all the numbers/letters/characters are lit up). It only resets trip data and the clock; my ART, ODO, thermo warning lights, shift lights, wheel dimensions, and such are all still intact. Its not a problem that will make or break the trip, but its certainly annoying to not have an accurate clock, and even worse to not be able to easily track my fuel economy. Any ideas? As I said, the vapor power cables are plugged into the same wires as the DS kit...
For android, just search the market for "accelerometer" there is a but load of apps, it just depends on what you want for a visual and outputs.
I mean it works sometimes. I guess I don't understand what you mean by check the battery - what would I be looking for aside from gremlins?
There is a small round watch style battery in the unit that keeps the memory. I'm thinking if it's bad you could experience the problems you describe.
