    Hey Beez-

I'd be into riding with you sometime, but unfortunately this weekend is out. I'm new to the full on dirt scene in the NE. Just sold my trials bike and BMW GS and picked up a KTM 450 EXC. Looking for local (and not so local on the weekend) trails to ride. My bike is dual sported, so some streets are fine, but I prefer the dirt. I'll keep an eye out on this site for future rides...please e-mail me as well (gregorydean@adelphia.net).

    thanks and happy trails!

Sorry Ray, the 620 is in pieces.

Well, if I end up by myself I will take it easy and work on technique. I'll see if I can remember that stuff Ned taught. :D

    Hey Armordillo,

Check out www.nedirtbikes.com for some trailriding in the area as well. A couple of us ride more out your way as well (north Central MA, S west NH). Congrats on the new 450exc - its a lot of bike!

When I lived in Springfield back in '90, NETRA (New England Trail Riders) had a trail system that you could circle the whole state on with a dual-sport bike. Anyone know if they still have it?

    :rofl Yah, right. :huh :patch

Well, maybe. I've never heard of it, though. And there's been a butt-ass of development in the last 15 years, not to mention strengthening of the eco-nazi regime. Unless you're talking about riding a DS on the road the whole way, then yeah, it's still doable. :lol3

Beez, what happened to the 620? :ear

It's apart for installing grip heaters is all, and it has the motard wheels on it right now.

There used to be over 20 state forests in MA that you could ride in now there are just 8. I don't think that loop around the state is doable anymore. :cry Musta been nice tho.

Well, it was a beautiful day for a ride. Got there a little after 9:30 and there were only two other guys there so I pretty much had the place to myself. Took off on the parking lot side and ended up riding with 2 guys, one on a Gas Gas (with a plate, bastard) and a guy on a DRZ. We got close to the 495/1A junction and they were hitting the street to connect more trail, but I was confied to the boundaries of the park with my little yellow plate. :cry

So I struck off on my own to find my way back to the parking lot.

Now which way was that? :cromag
A little more trail, a few wrong turns (is it really a wrong turn when you're just playing in the forest?) and it was time to take another break.

It's a good thing Wrentham boarders 495, I used that as a reference to find my way back. I have a terrible sense of direction, Paul Dean says it's because I don't have enough iron in my forehead. :huh

Found the parking lot and took another break. Next up, the loop across the road from the parking lot.

The other side of the park has a loop marked with yellow triangles. There are also blue triangles but I'm not sure what they mark. Maybe it's another loop but I'd never followed them before so I decided to stick to what I knew, which is the yellow loop.

My attempt at "The Flug Shot." I couldn't get the surly expression down so I went with what I'm good at which is goofy. :jump

    Did I mention the rocks?

So at this point I was pretty whipped, I'd given up using my goggles and was looking forward to the end of the loop. Man, I need to get in better shape (or ride easier stuff :evil). Last year I did this loop on my LC4 :huh, I have no idea how I did that?

Here's me at the end of today's little ride.

Well, that's it, I'm enjoying a Cap'n & Coke and that peaceful feeling of tired muscles. :twitch

How big is that place, Brad? How many miles did you put on today?

I got a kitchen pass for the afternoon (Grandma was up) and blasted around a bit. Got nagged by the cops (they were looking for someone else) and tried some wheelies on the way home. I suck at wheelies. :bluduh

Wonder if we'll get another SLUTs ride in this year? Probably not, seeing that we're headed into the holidays. :dunno

    Well, there's this. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178433

It's in Freetown State Forest. I haven't ridden there yet so not sure how rocky or technical it is.

Not sure how many miles today. The 450 has a digital odo and for the life of me I cant figure out how to work it. :lol3 I suppose I should break down and read the manual.
