My wife got me a Disney titanium version similar to this:


It is the thinnest and lightest watch I own so I hardly notice I have it on. I like to wear it on days that my dress shirt has particularly small cuffs, it always fits under the cuff. I got it for my anniversary 6 months ago and haven't had any problems. I probably wear it 2-3 times a week.

I bet two days from now we start seeing a lot of additions to this thread.

How do you guys get the old band off? I have a Citizen Eco-Drive Dive watch with a plastic-ie like "rubber" band. I was looking to replace it with one of these type bands, but the only way I can see to get the old band off is with a knife, which I am kinda reluctant to do.

Any tips would be welcomed.

With a spring bar tool, or alternatively with a dull knife or even a small screwdriver:

Do you really need a new set of spring bars?

Also, the bands, the Nato style go through the back? One continuous band no? If so, what prevents the watch from sliding on the band?

I have looked at the two piece Nato style bands as well, and will probably go with those, but was wondering about the other style band.

And as flood says - a small screwdriver is what I use. When I bought the watch, from an AD, I asked what they used and they told me the same - a small screwdriver!

You don't necessarily need to buy new bars, but they are cheap and they will fail sooner or later - the result may be a lost watch.

The classic Nato straps have two parts for this very reason. If one bar fails, the watch still stays on your wrist. On one piece-bands, the watch stays in position by friction. Check eBay, there are hundreds of cheap, good looking watch bands and spring bar sets. You'll have more fun with your watch. Just make sure you know your watches lug width (=strap and spring bar size).

I will add that you can make the spring bar tool out of a small screwdriver.




Some of the nicer buckles on the single bands are held on with a spring bar as well. So you can add a deployant clasp to a leather band in place of the standard buckle.

Then when you really want to play you can start making your own bands, this was my first:

I can't think of a strap that would look bad with that watch. The Planet Ocean watches are my current favorites.

I was just thinking about him as he is spending Christmas in the hospital with heart issues and saw this thread

I purchased that watch for myself several months ago and love it. I just hope it holds up better than my last Eco drive did. I've got a timex that is still running on the original battery whereas the Eco drive had to have the rechargeable battery replaced after three years and the replacement died after six months.

I have never had a nice watch, just the $10 ones here and there over the years. That changed this year when my wife got my this for christmas. Swiss Legend, I LOVE this thing.

Hope he's doing better and is on the road to recovery.

Thanks for the concern,he's on his way (Via ambulance) to Columbia Mo. today.He is supposed to get his stints replaced tomorrow.Some kind of build-up on them and was giving him problems.He's a damn good brother-in-law!Has always put my sister first for the last 34 years
