I can get around this BUT what if i have to turn around...there is point ride where I will not have enough to get back to gas...
I think I could have gotten around this but just down the road was another and it was a no go:freaky

Nice pics and report. Awesome looking country. Surprises me that you still have snow at that time of year yet the trees show remains of bush fires?

    Cheers
    Neil.

I always have a hand saw packed away in my kit, but these would be a bit much :eek1 ... surprised the ATV's hadn't cut them out yet?

But then again ... if those are fairly fresh tracks on the road ... one wind storm can litter a road with deadfall.

So being a pilot i have a real life fear of running out of gas. My garmin 650 gave be two choices...one go back to superior MT (this would be the third time i fueled there:eek1 or go tp Pierce ID. I had not been riding hard so I should have arrange of 190-200 before reserve BUT that can vary...GPS said i would be in Pierce at 170-ish so let the adventure continue:nod Trip planning is a challenge in this region due to the distances and with all the block roads keeping the tank full was a constant reality. I use to carry an extra gallon but is was one of the few times I really wanted the security of that extra weight

Picture are from the return to the main river road.

Back to where Kelly Creek runs into the north fork of the clearwater. One of the best fly fishing streams in the world! So little time in life....

main road ...the bluest skies i have seen are in Montana....

Off the mountains it was very hot...like in the 90s. Pierce is a one gas pump town. Like Avery,Pritchard and I think Elk City and maybe Powell it only has regular. Not sure what folks due that need to use the higher test....carry a booster additive?
