I'm working on a project to convert over to a wasted spark, dual coil ignition system on my TX750. Space is very tight under the tank due to the reserve lighting system, leaving little room available for a dual output coil. I would like to bypass the reserve lighting system but am unsure of which harness wires I'll need to jump. This system included the tail light/brake light as well as the headlight, so it's more complicated than the "fixes" I've found online. From what I can determine, if I jump the white to both the blue/yellow and blue I'll get the headlight and tail light, and the yellow/green to yellow for the brake light. I'm not that interested in any of the associated warning lamps controlled by the reserve unit, but don't want to make any irreversible changes to the harness. Any wiring diagram diagnosis would be appreciated since that is not my forte.
I agree with your wiring changes. They should work just fine. I suggest you add some fuses. The brown wire leaving the ignition switch going to the kill switch should have a 10 amp fuse. The red/yellow wire leaving the ignition switch going to the Headlight swirch should also have a 10 amp fuse.
Thanks. I agree about the "sub-fuses" being a good idea to augment the main fuse. Time to make a couple of jumper wires and test.
That did the trick. The hard part was determining the wire colors due to age and dirt. Now to see about adding in the fuse protection without destroying the harness too much
