My favorite old bike was the V45 Magna. Had many of the same qualities of the CB500X. Silky smooth, quiet, comfortable upright sitting position, not to big..

I think the CB500X is pretty darn awesome !!! Way better than anything available in the 80's. I have been looking for a long time for a light, small, twin cylinder, fuel injected, liquid cooled ADV bike.

With the Rally Raid upgrades, this is so darn close to perfect, that I will defiantly be getting one.

You obviously haven't ridden any classic bikes from the 80's, like the Nighthawk or Magna. Leave the real bike discussion to the big boys and go back to your video games.

    ....Hawk GT....CB1.....Sabre.....VFR500.....VT500......

While this the CB500X is no doubt a cool bike, it doesn't really move the ball forward like one might expect. It's heavier than two of my crappy 80s bikes for one thing and less powerful than two of them as well. No single sided swing arm. No shaft drive. No aluminum frame. It certainly isn't as pretty as any of my crappy 80s bikes.

I had a Honda V45 Magna, I loved that bike. BUT - It was heavier than the CB500X, and no fuel injection... And no cool digital X sticker on the side...

The digital speedo and tach really put the CB500X ahead in styling :D

$899; don't let my wife see that!

Was hoping to ride the X this weekend, but 11° right now is a bit nippy to even be considering it, praying for a bit of a warm up.

I accidently ran across the ride report where Dogjaw got his CB500X... It is a really unexpected, sad, and awesome story if any of you have not seen it:

One other tidbit I liked from that report was how quickly Dogjaw got in tune and liked the CB500X. Makes me really confident that it will be the perfect bike for ADV riding :D

Not going to lie here Dogjaw. I keep seeing this (picturing it in my head) middle aged man running around on a street legal mini-bike grinning like a fool going hoot down mainstreet... LOL

Seeing your GROM's inside the house, where they belong, is awesome !!! You are not a hard core biker unless you have a motorcycle in your living room :D

Thanks for the kind words; that trip changed my life in more ways than I can recount... one of my favorite memories wad rolling into Moab the afternoon after I picked the X up in Montrose, got stuck in a construction zone with a gaggle of Harleys. They all were a bit snooty about this smelly little guy on a 500 (?), but I happened across the same bunch later that night when carving through Arches at sunset, I don't think there was any comments then, or if there were, I didn't detect them in my rear view mirrors. That's when I knew the CBX was a special breed of bike, a highway worthy super moto, one of the reasons I'm not too lathered about taking the X completely down the DS path... I may think differently when I see the finished product from RR.

Now that is what I am talking about !!! That is the best looking piece of furniture in the whole house. I would much rather look at that sitting there than some stupid table :D
