Extremely poorly written description and a name that is a copy/riff on Touratech (TT) implies to me that it is of questionable quality, plus the ad hasn't been updated in at least a year (preorder date) and the price is wayyy to high for a bent/stamped/bolted plate that won't be near as strong as a thicker welded one, like those offered by Weld86, BDCW, Touratech, and others. The price isn't even very good for what it is. Also, no protection for the side stand or the engine cases really. I'll admit it looks decent with all the speed holes and such though.

Slavens racing offers a decent skid plate as well. The Weld 86 is my personal choice

    I have a Weld86.

Took a couple of good hits this summer. It is very well built.

    I like it. :thumb

Another vote for Weld86, a couple of bucks lower price, and 50% thicker.

+1 on the CJ mod Weld 86, I just got mine this weekend and installed it today. It didn't come with any hardware but I had stuff in the bolt drawer. My first comment on seeing the box is "holy smokes this thing is huge." After taking it out I can see that you most definitely get what you pay for. It is beefy.

Install took less time than it did for me to sift through my bolt drawer and find 4 suitable fasteners. It bolted right up with all hole aligning as they should. Very easy and precise install.

Edit: CJ did end up sending me bolts without me even talking to him

My Weld86 mounted using the stock bolts and bushings that were already on the bike.

Yeah mine was the CJ designs version which doesn't use the stock rubber grommets. The stock bolts weren't even close to fitting.

Weld 86 quality threw out and you wont break it. I have broken two other brand skid plates:eek1

yeah, for what it's worth, I have a Weld86 as well, and it's fantastic. I've been stunned at the hits it can take with no damage at all.

I looked at it with Firefox Image Zoom, and it seems a little (lot?) flimsy.

Those rivets holding the mounting rails seem very exposed to me.

Weld86. It has taken huge hits.

Sure it's heavy, but if you are looking for a light bike you chose wrong with a 990 in the first place.
