thanks. looking forward to seeing it unfold. this is the very small tip to one very bike iceberg and I enjoy doing it so should be fun. the AMCA's "Fast From the Past" collection of bikes is currently residing at Motorcyclepedia and there is a Crocker single cylinder speedway bike in that collection of 25 some odd bikes, but Ted's collection does not include a Crocker.
up next is an unrestored 1913 Flying Merkel. if anyone can come up with a cooler name than flying Merkel I'm all ears. Not around very long, maybe a 5 year run an gone after 1915. Pretty big racing presence back then. why drag it out?
I seem to be drawn to these speedo drive gears, talk about a gizmo. I also like the cam chain tightener, I thought my 1975 Can Am was trick for having it.
also predating supposed trick rear suspension by about 70 years check out the springs in the rear frame tubing.
my favorite part about all these old bikes are the endless brackets, levers, control rods, etc. etc. all secured by slotted screws and cotter pins.
not bad for an also ran original and it holds up nicely among the Yales, Popes, Thors, Pierces, etc etc it spends it's days with warm and dry. lighting is tough back in that little corner but me likes me the Merkels.
up next. Lenny's legendary long distance 1966 Electra Glide in blue. To say that I'm partial to flat side shovels would be understating the facts. Thats just the way it is. If you don't like them, don't look.
a few with the Nikon since I could move the brute around. used some very slow shutter with the tripod and a very closed aperture.
