I wasn't sure when I put my kit in... But I'm glad that I did do it. It comes in handy to clear the cylinder of you flood it etc.

I'm helping a young man who wants to buy a dualsport bike for 50/50 riding. He is looking at DRZ400 S models - Early 2000's. Today he looked at 2000 model S. Main mods - It had a Leo Vince exhaust, professional suspension upgrade (racetech or similar), bigger plastic tank. No steering stabilizer. The motor and suspension felt good. But the bike looked ridden hard in dirt. What are bikes like this worth? IE what should he be paying? Thanks for suggestions.
1500-3500, depending on where you are in the world. mine looks like it fell off a cliff. a bunch. id take 2500, or more. no less. too much cheap fun to give it away. post a pic and your general location to help.
We live in the Atlanta Georgia area. Didn't get any pics. 5000 miles or so. Leo Vince Exhaust with spark arrestor. (sounds throaty but not obnoxiously loud) After market suspension rebuild - one of the main brands like racetech. I think he had both front and back rebuilt. No steering stabilizer, which if I remember is important with a DRZ. Oversize plastic tank Aftermarket fat footpegs Customized back rack. Aftermarket back fender attachment with blinkers that are harder to break - part of the fender Front blinkers are missing but he says he has them. Not desirable company graphics all over the bike for his company - his name brand all over it. Chain looks caked on dirt bolts etc have that rust, ridden hard look Just looks like it's been ridden hard over the years. But, motor feels solid and suspension does also. Thanks for any replies or suggestions.
Which USD RM forks are these? Do you know the model number and/or the years these were used in the RM? Could anyone point me to any write ups about fitting these? Cheers, Adrian
best pipe you can buy for the DRZ, but loud as hell. Go to Thumper Talk, all you ever wanted to know about DRZ's but were afraid to ask.
I have spent some time on that forum. Those guys are nuts. They have strictly supermoto guys talked into running full coverage skid plates & bark busters. Everything they & their parrots reccomend is absolutely mandatory for all drz's, otherwise your bike will blow up or fall apart. I admit though, if you have a problem you can't figure out, there is someone over there who knows, and they'll blame your lack of manual cam chain tensioner, case savers, or radiator guards.
I have one and have 3 different inserts for it. A fully arrested quiet core, a fully open insert, and a screen spark arrester. The pipe isnt any louder than my stock YZ 450f with the open insert, and is quieter than my stock yz 450f with the screen style spark arrester I normally run. My engine is fully built and runs best with the open insert, however the screen style is used 90% of the time because I like to be responsible and not risk fires. The fully arrested quiet core kills my HP on a built engine, and I never run that one. This pipe would not be my first choice for a stock bore DRZ 400 with a CV carb, I would choose the full FMF if I was running a CV carb, stock cams, or stock bore. This pipe merely allows the cammed big bore bikes with the FCR to breath properly.
Nice bike bobbed06!! I like the white rear fender and the front forks, looks brand new too. It was between the FULL yosh system, the FMF powercore 4 with the fmf powerbomb header, or the MRD pipe, seems that the MRD/SSW is said to be the best pipes for the drz, and Dave over at MRD is really nice to talk too, he answered my billion questions Ill post up some pics once i get it. As far as thumpertalk, lots of knowledable guys over there for sure, i had a problem with fuel leaking and my engine hydrolocking, they knew right away over there that it was the o-ring that sits on the valve seat in the carb, removed the old one, put in a new o-ring, and no more fuel leaks, i enjoy both forums, anything DRZ is interesting to me.
I posted a while and got someinfo on stabilizers, thanks again. I have a question. Can I make my DRZ a sub mount using the GPR stabilizer and the stock tripple. I am running a 2" ROX riser so clearance wont be a problem. If you have a GPR on your DRZ please post back with a Pic if you have one.....John
That's a great looking bike, I love the look of the tank compared to the safari 17 ltr on my DRZ400E, which tank is that one.
3.2 IMS tank, The guys at IMS were really helpful and its a great tank. Thanks for the compliment, the bike was fresh off a full build so it was new.
