Does anyone know if there is a substitute odometer cable that can be used on a 2001 KTM LC4 640. Years ago I read about someone using a Suzuki cable.

I've replaced mine 4 times now, the plastic knurled piece (at the front wheel hub) pops off and renders the cable useless.

Anyways, if you know of a fix or a replacement part I'd like to hear from you. It's a bit of a ride (and not a nice one) to my local KTM dealer, also I do not want to pay for another one of these troublesome cables.

    Thanks.

I hear ya. Love my bike but that cable design is a KTM money maker.

I replaced my cable when I bought the bike, can't say how long it wil last.
I know the main odometer quit at 9999.x miles. the Tenths still turn and the trip odometer works.

When the speedo cable breaks again, I think I will go with an Acewell speedo/combo set with temp gauge etc. Then no more issues. :deal
