In the new Anaconda sale catalogue in my inbox today the 60csx is on sale $299 ($200 off) until 25th August. Looks like a good deal. Hope they have plenty of stock.

Shonkmaps will cover tracks, etc., and is free to download and pretty good, but for urban maps you'll need to purchase something, Garmins topo for Aus also has full street mapping and is routable, around $200, or wait for OZTopo v3 which will offer the same functionality.

    Quick question(s)...
I bought one one of these beauties a couple of weeks ago from
the Morayfield shop. Been doing a (fair) bit of research and I now
feel a bit overwhelmed with options and information!:eek1
What I am sure of is that I want topo maps for my bikes
and 4x4. But I'm not sure what to get. The DVD or micro SD card??
Or do they come together? I'm sort of shying away from the shonky maps
option as I'd prefer to pay for the registered software.
Basically I just feel a bit lost in it all. Is there a new version of
the topo maps about to come out that I should wait for??
Who/where is the best place to throw my hard earned at?
    I dunno...Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.:huh
    Thanks in advance.

ALWAYS buy the dvd so the maps also load on your computer/mapsource as well as unit.
if you bought the sd card you have no maps on computer only unit.
garmin does not properly explain this.

Can't you upload/copy maps from the SD card to the PC?

Hi, have just bought the topo Australia & NZ maps on CD, loaded them on the computer, they all work great.

Only problem is loading them on the Zumo 550 it all goes on (takes nearly 3 hours to load though). having trouble with the data tfr at present.

It shoes up as being on the memory card on the computer (elplorer) but des not come up on the unit only works if tfr about a dozen maps.

The problem with that is if you try to download an extra map it wipes the maps already there. It does warn you of this in the instructions.

The other thing is when installing it goes off and downloads a masive program called base camp this is a complete mapping tool like map source and in some ways it is better. However it does install all the topo maps into mapsource as well so you can use either.

The thing with the data tfr is probably something I'm doing wrong so will fiddle some more.

the maps have heaps of tracks and look good auto routing is good, I haven't used the dodgy maps at all so can't comment on differences there,

    Cheers bwvtom

Amazon has them for $199. That is good price indeed. In oz, better prices than anaconda, you will find on Ryda (they have a website as well).
