I'm in. My first ride with you guys also... Site 66
    Can't wait.
I'm on a 625SXC with a 9L tank. 90 road miles and I'm pushing. Substantially shorter distance when riding off-road in play mode.
I suspect around 60 I'll need fuel. I ran through all the post but did not see anything on distance between fuel stops. Anybody got any ideas? Do I need to be packing fuel

Last year I saw one guy had a soda bottle filled with gas in his backpack. I don't know how safe that is though! Just don't smoke!

I'd suggest taking a tow rope too ;)

I used to have a 625, 70 miles was about all it was good for combining hwy and woods, I would try to work on a solution. Saturday will be the long day if you're on one of the group rides, and we haven't worked out exact stops yet but it's very possible 70-80 won't make it. There just aren't many fuel options w/o making detours which take time and diminish the route. We'd like to see everyone have at least a hundred or so for range but we'll know more as it gets closer.

It goes without saying to leave with a full tank. :deal

Edit. just worked up a rough draft of the Saturday ride, 85+ to lunch/gas and a little over 70 back to camp. But it's not exact so 10-15% either way (give or take) should give you an idea. Again, 100 mile range should be enough.

Bass Pro Shops sells fuel containers similar to: http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/PN-070-0615/MSR-fuel-bottle-591-ml-20-oz

I'll be riding a 6 gallon beast, but would look into either finding a larger tank, or some easy way to carry an extra gallon+ with you.

Go buy a can of Seafoam. Use it in all your vehicles and then you can reuse the can for gas.

My experience is that a gallon of gas is a lot to carry with out special rack system. The answer is smaller bottles. Tour tech bottles are great but expensive and non disposable at that price...

I have resorted to larger size soda bottles that can be thrown away when empty. Dump em early in the ride as you stop and then wait for gas stop to dispose of bottle in trash. Please do not litter ever! The soda bottles are stronger than water bottles but I would not store gas for extended time. They are however cheap.

Disclaimer. I have never had an issue but that doesn't mean you won't..

    Swat I would DO.
    No I don't ride a KLR.

    Thanks for the replies guys,
I figured I would be carrying fuel bottles such as the MSR's or maybe even mount up a RotoPac, but it's half the price of the tank with the mount.
    I may just pull the trigger on a 18L tank....problem solved:D.
Love the SXC but I'm over the short range.

Can I get the GPX files for the route? are they ready yet
