Check-in is 3pm on 6/23, despite what their site says.

No plate required but May 28 and 29 is the Shelton Fun run and will appeal to may DS rider on smaller bikes. I did it last year on my TE610.

In September is the annual Easton DS ride, and August 12-14 is the North Idaho Selkirks DS ride.

I am planning on doing either Saturday or Sunday on the KTM 530.
Trucking it there.
Any takers?

If this is going to be sticky, then it seems like it should have all the dualsport events on the OMRA calendar.

Not to bad mouth or demean the OMRA calendar and site, but if you take out the Eddieville track, a lot of the listings on their calendar are gone. Another third is gone because we're in May now. Their layout is simple but has lots of colored lines with not much info on that page about hat event, a bit hard to read. For example "GP - Date - Monkey Butt Race - City (no state) - club name". That's it. Certainly there are a lot of good rides on the OMRA calendar, but if we list everything in the PNW, this one post could become harder to use. For example, do we want only DS rides (not GP?)

We could list the Eddieville Euro GP track, although some might think that would be spam (not sure if this is a "business", but it appears much like one). I noted that they use the word "playdays" to describe what appears to be the fact that they're open with nothing scheduled and they're hoping that I'll want to pay $30 to ride on their track that day. It could also clutter up the listing.

Perhaps we could have a "Tracks" section in the first post that identifies places like Eddieville (e.g. Washougal?) and points to their site and calendar with a little two-liner saying something like "Often open for riding with a charge". Some of the stuff there is an "event", others are not so much.

Just my opinion of course, may not even be worth what you paid for it if you read this far

And thanks to whomever for making this a stickie! Now we'll have to work on this to make it really cool and useful. Don't want it hard-to-use, don't want it cluttered with repetitive stuff, don't need stuff from last week (do we?).

Maybe some HTML genius can play around with some possible layouts that would be easy to use AND easy to keep up?

Then maybe we should start another thread to have a poll on various layouts (e.g. separate the states? I am not likely to go deep into Oregon for a day ride in the Desert, so having WA, ID, and OR being separate is ok with me, but maybe not others).

I guess I should have been more explicit, but since the title of this post is "Northwest Dual Sport Events" I thought that by saying we should add "the dualsport events" from that calendar it was pretty obvious that we should add only the DS events.

It's just Dual Sport Events.

I think there are not that many that we need to divide them by state.

I am a web designer and developer but I don't think we need to make this that complicated.

Just my 2 cents.

i just purchased dunlop d606 tires and plan to do the shelton fun run. it's been a few years since i have ridden dirt, and i can't wait!

Yes, you should be able to do it at your own pace, it was not that technical or steep, just get used to letting the faster little bikes pass by you.

Last year the course had some ATV tracks and then 1 or 2 loops of single track added for long or short course options. I did one loop and ended up at about 40 miles for the day. At mile 39 my arms, shoulders, and hands were sore and numb. I almost never encounter this any other ride I have done to date. I attribute this to the endless twisty stump dodging nature of the course last year. Only 250ft elevation change overall, but lots of tight turns in forest and clear cut sections kept my TE610 in 1st gear most of the time. If I could hit 2nd gear on a trail, it was only seconds before a sharp corner came up and had to downshift again. Add to that a relatively heavy bike to toss over every 40 feet and it gets to be some work. Most of the ORV and Forest land single track I have seen are much straighter runs with smaller sections of tight stuff, barring the double super secret stash trails.

I understand the course may be different this year, but I think the area is similar. I am taking my 450 this year (since I now have one).
