Tried doing a search for this, no luck...

Do you prefer over the boot or in the boot?

I think I am wanting to find something that will be waterproof and in the boot. I find myself more comfortable and feeling less... baggy?... when I tuck my alpinestar brygandz pants into my tcx infinity boots.

Over the boot keeps the water out of my boots.

In the boot if it's dry, over the boot if it's not. That's in textile pants that give me the option. My leathers don't give me the choice; they're in. I can't imagine an "in the boot" solution that would overcome the natural "funnel" effect at the pant/boot junction and keep your feet dry.

My jeans go "in the boot" and my RoadCrafters legs go over the boot.

If I put both my jeans and my RoadCrafters legs over the boot, I get quite the breeze up my leg, something that is not so bad in the summer, but a showstopper in the winter.

You just have to decide how much water is acceptable in your boots.

One boot serves the asphalt touring or off-road exploring for me, so put me down for over the boot.

Jeans and then the Roadcrafter over the Combat touring boots.

Over the boot for all riding except when I am Roadracing, then it is in due to the onepiece leather suit.

A lot of people here will prefer over the boot. It is the enduro style. Since I am short by comparison to a lot of guys, I go with in the boot instead, since it keeps all that excess material from dangling about. Yeah, I get wet feet sometimes, but it seems that if you're in water that deep, then everyone's going to get wet feet.

I split the difference with my Khatmandu pants. The liner goes into the boot, the leg of the pants goes outside the boot.

No room inside the boots, barely room outside the boots with jeans! :huh

some of us have calf muscles that preclude in the boot. Thick socks and I do not have much Velcro overlap.

Over the boot BUT done up tight against the boot. I learned a long time ago that a loose pant over the boot can catch on the peg as you put your foot down at a stop - made for an embarrassing fall at a gas station - luckily no damage to me or my ride.

I guess this makes sense if you only ride in the rain. :D

In cold weather, I ride with the pants cuffs in my boots. In warm/hot weather and whenever it's raining, I have the pants cuffs over my boots. Easy!

Apparently I need to make a pant that tucks into a boot but has some kind of gaiter right about where my boot is, falling over the lip of it :p

In the boot unless it's wet. Outside the boot is one more insect ingress. Last thing I need is a wasp stinging me up my leg.
