It's been a while since we've had a watch thread so... Found this over the weekend. I have boxes of stuff left from my Dads house that I have yet to go through. This was in one of his boxes. Inscribed on the back is: "Bureau of ships US Navy Comparing Watch 10612-1943" Inside it has the usual markings along with a U.S. Govt stamp. We'll see if we can get going again
Cartier Roadster my buddy got on one of our down river snorkle trips a couple years back. Sold it on ebay for $1500. Nothing that great in my collection... I do have more sunglasses then Ill ever need in a lifetime. The river drunks replace the supply every year.
Had one of these for many years, my dad won it in Korea playing poker with the USMC. Then the strap broke while I was riding on the freeway one day.
Fucking classic. oseroseroseroser "Five long years he wore this watch, up his ass. Then, he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you."
Stumbled on this a little while ago. Poor man's navitimer. Quartz. Keeps great time and helps me convert exchange rates and figure out my ETA here in the pacific.
I no longer have this -- it was lost or stolen during a move - but my all-time favorite watch was this Cartier tank watch from the 1970s. Delicate and tasteful. I've never found a watch since that I can truly tolerate wearing. I suppose I should go find another Cartier on eBay!
