2013 RMAR Colorado Adventure Motorcycle 1000

A good GPS....for even an $89 refurbish can navigate one through the 1000 miles of adventure.

And a KOTW 1k finisher. A few years ago I did the KOTW ride, which was basically a ride (RACE - Ride and Comfort Event) that was all GPS routes. If you couldn't follow your GPS, you were sure to get lost and not make your gas refill point...... exhilarating!

We have added a couple of new riders in the past month and two are pending. That only leaves us with about 4 more open slots.

At a total of 24 riders, we will close the ride.

The RMAR bunch rode the Kokopelli and Moab this past weekeind for a tune up to the riding year. Mac put together an awesome ride.

This year, both my boys were able to join us and we had a blast. We rode the Koko on Friday, Kane Creek on Saturday and back on the Koko on Sunday.

I've got my KTM 525 ready to go. I put the 3.4 gallon tank on it. Giant loop bags with dry pods, renazco seat, new chain and sprockets and new tires. I also just bought a house near DIA airport and with my flexible schedule I plan on riding a lot this year. I'm shipping the KLR to maui to ride on my trips over there.

I'm not going to have the roto packs on the bike for the ride. My tent will be there.

I just purchased rotopax for my KTM 950... But the water tanks, for dry camping. Will need the extra water when in the desert.

But, will be riding the 'ole XR650R on the CAM......

I am so...looking forward to the CAM!!!!!!!'m

This is my ride for the CAM, although I'll be using much more compact camping gear to reduce the duffel. I keep the camping gear up top; new lightweight one man tent, pad, Exped mattress, freeze dried food, maybe some extra clothes or gear. Heavy stuff goes down in the bags. I'll be ready!

I have the exact same, Wolfman setup. I put my little tent, down bag and sleeping pad in the top duffle and it is only volume....very little weight and the bike runs along just fine.

That top duffle is awesome, as long as you don't get it too heavy.

Just put a deposit on a 2013 KTM 500 EXC and will be setting it up like the examples in the bottom 2 photos. I'll carry a 2 gallon Rotopax fuel tank on the left side rack behind the bag. That'll give me at least 4 gallons and at 50 mpg will give me a 200 mile range.

That is a very nice bike and I love the Wolfman/Rotopax setup!

I am SOOO ready for this ride!

My fellow 2012 CAM 1000 riders, I had the distinct pleasure of hosting Terry the other day during his Iron Butt adventure criss-crossing the U.S. (remember he lives in TX and I live in NH). We shared a meal, had great conversation, and told lies. Both of us shared fond memories of the 2012 CAM 1000 and are anxiously looking forward to the upcoming CAM 1000.

Now on to the lies.....I can attest to the fact that the bike in the picture was in fact what Terry was riding. How exactly he got those two hotties to pose on the bike remains a mystery. I just can't believe it was based solely on his good looks and charm---as he claims.

Think I'll go on an Iron Butt ride to see what I can find

Looking at that pic of Wild Bill, you would think we would accept riders to the age of 90.....!!!!!!!

It's not abut age. It's about equipment and the willingness to endure and accomplish.

Don't let age be a problem. I'll be 66 at the rally, and I'm betting I won't be near the oldest. As a warm up I will do the COBDR and part of the CDR before the CAM. Can't wait to head to CO in a few weeks!
