So I'm headed to Duluth this weekend to take my kids on a train ride. I'm going to try and sample some Rustic Inn pie.

Any specific flavors that deserve special recognition?

And I plan on taking pictures. Do you think Normus will mind? :jump

Should have let is set longer. Gives the filling time to gel better.

    Looks pretty tasty.

    Nay, nay, nay.

I know what happened from vast, vast experience of cutting pie too early. One might even surmise that I am an expert at it.

The only advice I can offer is that it is always best to make 2.

The Caramel Pecan Levee High Apple Pie® is the traditional Levee High Apple Pie® smothered in a rich, caramel, pecan topping. Our most popular dessert features 18 Golden Delicious Apples, piled high in a made-from-scratch crust. To achieve our signature height, each apple is hand-peeled and hand-placed in the pie. Our 9” apple pies weigh in at a whopping 10 lbs and serve 8, or one Brit.

First of all, this is an epic new thread. Love it!

Second, the Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen stores in Louisville are awesome. I highly recommend you stop by on your way south next time.

Thirdly, Patti' s 1880's Settlement has fantastic food and take special pride in their pies. A MUST stop if you're in the Kentucky Lakes region.

I'll keep an eye on this one...probably a fork too.

Try the Pie Bird Cafe in Fruitland, MO. Just north of Jackson, MO on highway 61. Their German Chocolate Cake, when fresh, is to die for. :clap And Patti's in Grand Rivers, KY is Greeeaaaaat!!

Is this a case of taking a perfectly good concept, such as an apple pie, and then ruinating it by doing something silly with it?

    Can this actually be good?

I say we go there, and find out. :pynd

Apparently this is the Blue Owl.

    Yes.

Good pie (particularly apple) relies on a crunch, a crust-to-filling ratio that you can really feel. Sometimes you get it with a crumb topping, sometimes with pecans in that crumb topping and caramel to offset the pecan crunch.

18 apples in a pie is just stoopid.
