It was a great weekend at the Finger Lakes rally. Sunday afternoon, right around lunch time, a local rode in on this beautiful custom creation. Needless to say it attracted plenty of attention.

My only question, after a heart-felt thumbs up, is HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU STOP THAT THING????!!!!
I love the Finger Lakes Rally, after countless nationals, the Finger Lakes is still the best I've ever been to.

I can think of a million things I'd rather do with my time and money. It's rare that I see a custom beemer I don't like, but this thing...:puke2. Take a fine /2, subtract a fine motor, add a soulless motor, do nothing to improve braking or handling = recipe for rally attention whore. Well it got me riled up at least...:lol3

Well I guess you would hate my /2 then.
    1600 cc's kick start only.

Well maybe not? I have a disc brake up front, maybe that would make some feel better?

    Bikes still Bitchin too me!:clap

No, the VW swaps made some sense. Airhead swaps work too. If done right, the uninformed won't even know it's been changed.

An Oilhead in a slash 2? :puke2 It's too big, too blocky and even the most uninformed person will look at that and know that it doesn't belong there. Two thumbs down.

I like it myself. I prefer bone stock original, so if you're going to make a bastard out of it, what's the difference.
Brakes, it will stop just as fast from 80 with either engine, mute point.
I think he needs to find him an old school side car, that would keep him from getting too carried away.

To me, its sorta like kissin' your sister... what's the point? Looks weird, too... is it my imagination or did the frame get stretched...................??

Now THIS is what a conversion should be doing, and looking GOOD .....

Proof that it is indeed an infinite universe. Anything can happen, and is probably scheduled to, soon.

I love it, obviously. Not that everyone should go out and buy/build one, (there probably is no need for more than one of these :lol3 ) but that there should be one in the world is a great thing.

    Now I want to see a /2 motor on a 1150 Frame! :deal :lol3

I rode out to that finger lakes rally a few years ago- its a damn fine one!

I can say that I certainly respect and appreciate all of the thought and hardwork that must have gone in to that machine. Clearly, whoever did it, did a class A job. At the same time, it seems like a pointless exercise to put that type of engine in to a frame that clearly can not handle the acceleration or braking that it would require. As far as I'm concerned, it is a little unnerving to look at a BMW and be reminded of a Boss Hoss.

    very cool

It might need a better brake, but so what, it needed a better brake before the bigger motor.

If you know a bikes braking limitations, you are likely to (hopefully..) ride differently. The extra hp does not change this. The throttle works both ways. I'll bet it makes some great power for pulling out of corners.

Is that motor any heavier than the old one? What hp does it make at the rear wheel? I'll bet the frame/suspension can handle a careful riders inputs.

Now, I wanna see an r50 engine put into a new GS..:)
