There is something to this. I see at rallys several who get plastered and drink until 2, then up at 7 and riding. They are surely still legally drunk, and much worse than a guy who just had one at dinner.

I like to ride really hung over. Then I don't care if I die.

Since I only have 1 beer anyway, I'll have that 1 beer and still ride.

...but I have a nipple on the beer, so its not like I'm drinking to get drunk.

You got more room to swerve on a bike.

Actually a good point. Just because the alcohol is out of someone's system doesn't mean they aren't still impaired by the the other effects- dehydration and the other fatigue poisons that your body stopped dealing with in order to get the alcohol out of your system.

Good point, a hang over can make you a worse driver then a drunk.

Lack of sleep can also be worse, thinking about things, flu, ect.

There are some people who say they are pretty up tight here. Though I wonder if they really are.

On my bike, it's pretty much a "one and I'm done" rule, so It better be a good beer, no piss beer.

In my truck I limit my self to 1 or 2 per hour, and never drink buzzed, usually I have a DD with me anyways.

Either way I always eat food and drink water when partaking, even if it's bar food.

We all have our own personal guidelines on how we orchestrate our lives. Nobody wants to be dead on the side of the road, or to kill anyone, and we certainly don't want to deal with a law enforcement agency or the justice system. I always keep in mind the consequences when/if I partake.

I won't base it on their opinions. I'll base it on science - as was pointed out even a small amount of alcohol can impair riding. That happens regardless of what anyone may think. Several times over the years the media have done tests and proven a shot or beer can and will make a difference after a short amount of time for the alcohol to be absorbed into the system.

I have a friend who seems to function totally unimpaired by a six pack and will tell you he is fine, but I'm not going to respect or trust his driving/riding at that point. There is little question he has a high tolerance for alcohol in his system relative to being coherent, but I'm not betting on reaction skills.

I can respect a rider being careful after having one or two, leaving a lot greater safety zone, but I still know they (or I if it would be me) will be impaired to an extent. Kind of like if they had to do some sort of medication.

There are several factors involved. One is body mass. A heavier person is affected less by a given amount than a lighter one. Another is alcohol tolerance. A person who drinks often builds a tolerance and is less affected than one who has an occasional drink.
