I get the concept, reviews on it seems ok. Anyone use it here? Will help make it a little more comfortable spooning both street and dirt tires on/off? I don't see how it would make it any easier. I have the stand. its ok. gets pretty wobbly as the legs are weak and being two piece there is room for play. I had tried like hell to buy a Mikes Racing stand - apparently the originator of the design. he wasnt answering emails or calls, and a lot of web reading showed others had the same experience. however a friend did get one from mikes racing this spring. it costs another $60 or so but if you can get one, it is way better than the msr/moose stands.
If it might help, an Iron Butt rider friend who would go thru 10+ tires a year made his own; simple, cheap. A 30 gallon barrel w/one end cut out and covered with heavy heater hose. Then a pipe installed thru the drum about a foot from the top to provide an anchor point to hold the wheel in place. The drum was full of rocks to keep it stable. A decent bead-breaker and a few good tire irons and you are in business.

I have not used that one but did make my own and having the wheel clamped down and at waist level makes tire changing waaay easier for me...FWIW mine is fairly small and light, clamps in a vice and was easy to make, posted some photos awhile back at http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822721
It is a much nicer stand if he is producing them again. I cant justify getting rid of mine if he is selling. its still an upgrade from changing ice tires on the living room floor
I think he is back in business. I got a response from him (Mike) this morning and just placed order for his stand and bead-breaker attachment. Hope it works out and I don't have to kill my back changing tires....some days, it can be a real chore, especially a set of rear 17/190 street tires. I gotta be in the mood to change tires when working off my present system (harbor frieght bead-breaker, spoons and the floor with some 2x4).
I'm using the Moose Racing version with a No-Scuff bar from Dave Anderson. Since the picture was taken I've mounted the stand to a 2' x 2' piece of 1/2" plywood and replaced the cheesy 1/2 x 13 tpi center rod with a piece of 5/8" Acme threaded rod. I bolt the plywood base to the garage floor with a couple of 3/8" anchor bolts when I'm changing tubeless tires with the No-scuff bar, but that's not necessary with tube tires and tire spoons. It paid for itself pretty quickly.
I find the threaded rod to work ok, I usually dont even fasten the wheel. I need something for breaking the beads on the 950 wheels though I think if I ever get a flat offroad I will walk out not a bad idea, but I never disconnect the trailer. one could also cement a piece of 2" square tubing in the floor for the same result
