I'm trying to make it to anchorage by late may. I realize this year has had some great snow... your thoughts? I'm on a ktm 690 enduro/adv.
These guys did it last May.. Looked ok with the right gear so far. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=767723 The funny thing is they ran into horrible mosquito's still. I found that unreal. If I had my bike here I'd give it a go, but it's in Phoenix waiting for CDT.
If you change your plans, I am leaving the coast of Oregon on June 10th to go to Prudho Bay and do a little touring in Alaska and the Yukon fo about 30 days. As of now I am going alone since my riding buddy has plans back east.Let me know.
I have to be in mn by end of june... then ship the bike to uk end of july. I'm hoping may is warm enough for minimal snow but cool enough so the bugs aren't bad. Ill probably do some boarding in whisler and ak.
To bring this to a close for the next people who will be searching for this answer: It can be done. Don't fully rely on a 30 degree sleeping bag. (something colder would be better). Heated clothing is key. Watch out for the bear. You might get snowed in someplace (Whitehorse YT for 3 days). Its in my RR if you would like to see pics. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=781893 Page 12 is where riding up the Cassiar starts.
