3 here, a KLR, an XR400, and an old Yami XT600.

Unfortunately the XR is being sold next week:cry, and the XT just as soon as I polish it up a bit and make it run.

I cant justify keeping the XR, even though it is set up as the ULTIMATE trail bike, I only got it out two times last season. It is just much more convenient to blast out to the desert on the KLR, or take the long way home from work.

The XT I traded for, for the purpose of fix and sell. I might keep it just to have a spare DS bike around as a loaner.

7 Kawi ZX10r- Reasoning: first bike in my recent collection, got it for improved fuel economy (that's my story and i'm stickin to it :evil) I commute 177mi/day. I could afford the gas, but not the tickets so I don't ride it much any more

98 KTM 620 RXC- Reasoning: got me off the kawi and therefore out of trouble, still good milage, fun on the back roads. My brother and dad both have dualsports so we have a good ol time on them. worked for a pigish dirtbike as well.

03 Honda CRF450r- Reasoning: Didn't like tearing up my KTM off road. I had made a deal with my brother for a quad to help him out with money and then traded it off for the CRF which is what I really wanted.

Moral of the story: ya gotta have a bike for every occasion and anywhere in between. Forgot to mention i'm a student too! I just have my priorities straight! (you should see my car...it's the one along the highway with the white rag hanging out the window)

Two so far, 2002 XR650R and a 1985 XL350R. The wife bought the latter for me to restore and for her to ride when I'm not.

    KLR685: 15-90MPH

Simple as that. My KLR will hold a 90MPH (GPS) cruise without a problem, and the fatigue of wind blast limits my time at supra-legal speeds. Can't see myself getting anything more powerful, although there is space for a pure plated dirt bike in there.

    2007 KTM 640 Adventure
    2009 Yamaha WR250R

Both great motorbikes. Tough decision to chose which one I would keep if I could only have one. The Yamaha is an absolute blast to ride around town, the KTM is, without a doubt, better on distance rides.

I compare it to having two different sizes of screwdrivers, or kitchen knives, you need the right tool to accomplish the job.

I like the old school philosophy of the KTM (carb, no programmer, no cat exhaust, no high pressure EFI fuel pump, screw and nut valve adjustments, etc.).

The Yamaha runs great, does not need any jetting for high altitude, and does not need a valve adjustment for 26,000 miles.

06' TE250 for the trails. 09' TE610 for the longer DS/ADV rides. It's nice to have plated bikes here in SoCal.

Guess which is the reliable one...

(Hint: it's not the one you think.)

Bought the XR as a daily and the TE as a toy. Weird how life can reverse your expectations, and sadly neither is very good at its new role, so now I find myself trying to consolidate them into a single thumper to do both occasionally.

I have finally decided that I should cut back to just two.

    I was thinking I'd keep the 640 and get a late 90's/early 2000 400/450 4 stroke or 200/250 2 stroke road registrable enduro.

I'll still keep the KX for VMX, and the KDX because its still a heap of fun, and the DT because I'd get bugger all for it if I sold it, and the WR because I have plans for it...

And if I keep the KX, KDX, DT and WR it will make the pain of only having two bikes so much easier to bare...
