Agreed Max, exactly the same. Except I only realised the clutch cable was slipping back after I found a nice white wear mark on top of the fender!! I'm now looking for somewhere to mount my double horn to replace the feeble stock offering. AJ
What baffles did you use for the EMPI exhaust? I'm about to install mine and remap to the arrow 2-1 fuel map and I'm a little worried they might be too loud without baffles.
Sweet! Thanks for responding, you too Goat Locker! I have a Bonneville side cover on the way! BTW...in case any of you are interested. Having the low mount exhaust freed up a bit of leg room, allows me to grip the tank with both knees during spirited riding...makes standing up and riding much easier and in the warm climate of SoCal, keeps the heat away from my precious family jewels.
I was pretty sure I saw it in a quick cut of an action scene, but this confirms it. I'm sure it'll have some more actiony moments. <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4EY4qZO4vC4" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>
Saw this tonight at the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin Tx: I kept lingering hoping to meet the builder and ask him a barrage of questions about the huge suspension lift, but never could find him. Wish I knew more, cause more suspension travel is the one thing my scrambler needs...
That's one of the best I've seen. If you're willing to spend the thousands needed to swap the parts, I don't think it's too tough. My problem is the "thousands" part. One of these days...
Very nice, but weight was not an issue, with the dual discs up front. Probably part of the road bike swap it came from. I could see a chain tension issue too, maybe. A tensioned pulley underneath and it looks like the chain will be dragging across the top of the swingarm. There are many issues to overcome in a swap like this but, I like it!
Just that suspension alone... Looks pretty high and at 6'1" with a 32" inseam, I think I would have a better idea of what it's like for Sammy when he's riding his Speed Triple.
I looked underneath and saw a roller for the chain, but didn't see any tensioner... Should have taken better pictures, but I kept expecting to see the maker and then expected to be able to find a website, no luck on either. No idea what front end that is. If I knew it would hold up to serious mileage and take some of the harshness out of the ride, i'd pay my money gladly!
Re Forks.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Here is what I have done.<o></o> Fork adjusters. http://www.ebay.com/itm/XVS650-FRON...OAD-ADJUSTABLE-FORK-CAP-/251894356631?vxp=mtr And Blacktigers<o></o> I got myself some 7.5W fork oil (Std. is 10W) and put that in the forks to a level of 140mm from the top of the leg with spring removed and leg fully compressed. Result is a vast improvement - not perfect but I'm happy to stay with that set-up with no further mods.
Went for a ride out to Death Valley yesterday. 579 mile round trip. Slabbed it minus a couple of spots (1 road that was all buggered up but still a blast especially when the pavement ended). Saw a few ADV bikes all bright and shiny :huh so..... Anyways pics
Yeah, it'd be like riding a big dirtbike for sure. My CRF450 was the same way...could only touch down with one foot while sitting on the seat. It was also MUCH lighter. USD forks are on my long list, but I'm thinking a 904 kit is the next big project. Winter 2015.
A little too extreme IMO. If you are going to do that serious of desert racing, then use the right tool for the job, a 500lb Scram is NOT that tool. As a style exercise, still a little too much, even the original desert sleds didn't look near that extreme. I would definately be tippy toes on that thing.
Ho hoooo, I just completed a survey sent by Triumph on my email address about the Scrambler : what kind of changes I would like to see (more HP, more off-road capabilities, less weight, more accessories, etc.), if I would like to see several versions of the Scrambler and then showing 2 pictures of Scrambler to choose from : the stock one then the Special One which one of their internal team made a few weeks ago ! Even asking about the price I would be wiling to pay for it... It shows that they are asking themselves some questions, are clearly influenced by what Ducati did with their Scrambler and maybe, just maybe we could hope that if enough owners declare an interest for their special version, they would consider manufacturing and selling it !!
Anybody have the Triumph Scrambler screen they wanna sell? It's the one with a spine going through the middle. At least I think it's the Triumph screen. Cheers
I just finished taking the survey as well. Unless I am horribly mis-remembering it, I believe this is the bike they used to represent the hypothetical "special edition" scrambler. Lost of questions about off-road capability and general areas for improvement - as well as where it would become a stretch, and completely off the table as far as pricing. It sounds like (and I'm hoping) they are looking at revamping it in general or (more likely) doing R, XCX and/or XCR trims like they have with their other models.
