I'm new to the Dualsport thang, and just brought a 97 back to life so any tips on the "s" model would be welcomed! Oh yeah, my first post too. Are there any owners in the Inland Empire?

Kardinal 76, noticed you have a white bros. pipe on your bike to really wake it up put in a dynojet jet kit , cut a 3"x3" hole in the top of the air box and a k&n air filter. Also i went with 14/43 gearing its good for woods and the street.

    Hey guy's I have a 97 model with a little over 5000 miles.
It has had the airbox mod and jetting setup a few other odds and ends but otherwise pretty stock.
I really like the Lil' DR it does almost anything I ask pretty well.

Glad to see a new 350 rider, we are in the minority in this world of 650s.

Mine is a 91, DR350E, dirt only, kickstart. It was kind of a basket case when I got it. The engine was rebuilt, the crank had the oil starvation problem, it blew up!! New Wesico piston too. New Clutch plates, The carb was shot, I tried a rebuild but it was just too tired to save. SO i got a new one from bikebandit.com, $300 plus. I rejetted it and it runs good once its started. Its just a PAIN IN THE ASS to start sometimes, kick and kick and kick. And the clutch

I need electric start. All in all though a good bike, I just hate when it stalls in the woods, hard to start when its hot. The clutch basket is soft aluminum so its tough to find neutral when its super hot. I could replace the basket with a new one from Jesse K but I don't know how much $$ I want to keep dumping in the bike.

I did an enduro school in Meriden CT a few weekends ago. It was from a dead start, which was a pain in the ass. I droped the bike a few times and stalled it out. I kicked it over soo trying to start it I wore myself out.

I like to say the bike has "character" :)

It was my first dirt bike in about 19 years, my old one was a KDX200 2 stroke.

I got tired of setting 12 packs between me and the tank on the way home from work...................so I made a a rack to strap beer and possibly other stuff to. (no drinking on the bike the beer is for at home). I really am too cheap to buy the one from ebay for $100, my brother has one and it is a nice rack.

and the gauges I installed a few weeks back. It works but the wiring diagram sucked, and the mechanical speedo drive doesn't work (still trying to get in touch with electro sport for a replacement). I was able to get the magnetic pick up to work by glueing a magnet to the brake disk.

Thank's for the advice. I'm pretty sure the previous owner did all the right mods except for cutting the air box. I have to take it to CHP soon to get my tags (bikes been out of the system a while) so I'll cut it open after that.

Oh yeah, I swapped in a 14t sprocket too.

By the way, how would I confirm the jet size?

Hey Kardinal, If you have the dynojet kit. The main jet should be a DJ128 running an aftermarket exhaust. Also if you look at the bottom of the carb. and there is a brass plug in it, no one has ever touch the air mixture screw. If you see a small flat head screw towards the intake side in the center on the carb, that is the air screw. If you cut the 3x3 hole go up at least to a DJ140 and move the clip down on the needle one position. And turn the air screw out 2 and a half turns.
