Hey Sig I Was going joke with ya and rough you up and sight all the dust and dirt, but .... We might be all green up here, but the leaves are turning color, and could soon mean the white stuff we call snow will be falling and I'll be sitting, wishing, and you'll still be riding ! I Just love your pics of all that beautiful, wonderful, dusty dirt roads ..... HOY!
Thanks My wife took most of the pics today, SHe does well- that cannon powershot hangs on a lanyard around her neck The dirt kinda sucked today- SHe was holing on tight a few times-- most of the pics are from relatively smooth areas- the dry fall has left the roads really beat (in this case from cattle trucks as well)
Had my first day off in a couple weeks- and the weather was spectacular , upper 60's, lower 70's on Halloween :huh... Went north through Cache Valley, farms and fields, into southern Id Near Benson Benson Marina- the most water I'd see all day, been a dry summer Heavy J Cash rotation on the ipod today , seemed to fit Newton Dam- Usually has some big tiger muskie, but I've no idea how they are fairing with the low water Busted into Spudland- a new sign From Dayton Id, cut west through the Caribou Natl Forest on Hwy 36- and excellent curvy 22 miles to Malad In Malad, had a Pepsi and cliff bar, played some scratch off lotto tickets Won 15 bucks . Talked to a couple older guys eating at the ubiquitous fast food place in the Chevron...Good stuff. Flew low, returned essentially the same way- Great few hours Thanks for keepin up
Another Wednesday off- Snowbasin, gonna get more later this week... East Canyon res Up over Big Mountain Escaped for 4 hours
Ah.....my backyard. I recognize the exact location of every photo. I'm jealous. I was sitting here today looking at the beautiful weather thinking I should cut out of work early and go lay down some miles on the 950. Looks like you had the right idea. Good for you.
Thanks, was a good few hours- the weather has got me almost believing in global warming the low water at every lake and pond has got me concerned Passed a few riders going north over 66/65, and the ubiquitous Unified police SUV on the Emigration side
Aaahhh......endless Utah, thanks for making me jealous again!!! What a beauty day to blow off some steam midweek.
No question, Wednesdays off works out well Yup- the cold stuff is commin, should hit us on friday, in colorado by sat/sun...
No cold white stuff Just cool and dry, dry, DRY... ...And, a huge lotto thing. So, I flew low up to Malad to buy a few loosing tickets. Pulled into the Chevron/Burger King (75 miles in about 50 minutes ) and saw this- :huh Parked off to the side Took about 45 minutes to get through the line. Several remarked that I had passed them in their pilgrimage Went home through Caribou Natl Forest and Logan- Here's to the winning numbers
Looks like good times. Weston canyon is great I ride a lot of single track on either side of that highway--a couple minutes from home and a lot of fun. Love seeing your updates
I apologize for commenting going back so far in your RR. Could somebody clear something up for me. The Native Americans never had the use of horses until the Spanish came here, or so I have been taught. However, on Newspaper Rock you can clearly see a depiction of a person sitting atop a horse with a bow and arrow. So either the historians are wrong about the natives not using horses until the Spanish came, or those carvings (I have never seen them, I assume they are carvings) are not as ancient as people think that they are. Perhaps they might be 400 years old instead of 1200 years or older like I have read. If anybody can shed some light on this, please feel free to send me a private message. Once again Signal, I apologize for commenting on your RR that is two years old. Truly awesome pictures, and I thank you for posting them.
the one benefit of living in a lottery state - no lines here - every gas station and deli has a lotto machine :) it was a good excuse for a ride tho !
Geez that Chevron in Malad has become a regular stop for Mrs. Samthg & I on visits to my M.I.L., who now lives in Bigfork, Mt. Just stopped in there 3 weeks ago coming and going. We stayed at the Hampton in Lehi, which is a pretty good halfway point. Not sure if you know of the joint, but we had a pleasant surprise by eating at a place next door called JCW's Restaurant. Wishin' continued good riding weather on ya! Always enjoy your thread, thanks.
Alcanrider, the petroglyphs started around 2000 years ago and continued until the early 20th century. That's why horses are there. I like the one with Santa Claus and his reindeer. http://climb-utah.com/Moab/newspaper.htm
I might get sucked in Many thanks- know all the above. That JCWs is pretty good, have stopped there post Cabelas trips
