Very very nice! At twice the sale price, Im good with my purchase though. Otherwise, the new unit is really trick with the camera and large screen. I can really see that being a great feature for documenting scenic rides. David
Oh baby. Looks like it ships in June. I might be saying goodbye to my delaminated StreetPilot screen. 4" diag screen vs. the Oregon's 3" diag screen. http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/gear-news/garmin-announces-new-montana-gps-unit/8301.html
I was scratching my head last night when browsing REI's web site and noticed the 62s on sale for $279. Now I know why. The Montana 650t looks like a winner to me (or at least something I'm hopeful about). no word on CHIRP support
Interesting. Not that I need another GPS, but I would like a larger screen on the little bike. Nice that it converts to landscape mode.
Looks to me like Garmin is about to drop the ZUMO line. This is the first non-zumo brand to target market Moto customers. Looks very promising for the Dual Sport crowed. Feature-function will be the real tell but from the looks of the web-ads it will be quite flexible. Now, one of these with a 5" screen would be just right for my old eyes. Oh, and Bluetooth (A2DP of course) and XM WX weather and MP3 Player and . . . uh, uh, well...that's it I guess.
I'm glad I waited to replace my 60Csx. The handlebar mounts are cracking. Why do you say they're about to drop the Zumo line?
The Zumo is not rugged like this thing, so it wouldn't surprise me if they continued to sell both. Some people prefer larger screens.
sounds promising... <table id="playlist" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="odd"> <td> Built-in memory: </td> <td>3.0 GB </td></tr> <tr class="even"> <td>Accepts data cards: </td> <td>microSD™ card (not included) </td></tr></tbody></table><table id="playlist" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="odd"><td>Waypoints/favorites/locations: </td> <td>2000 </td></tr> <tr class="even"> <td>Routes: </td> <td>200 </td></tr> <tr class="odd"> <td>Track log: </td> <td>10,000 points, 200 saved tracks </td></tr></tbody></table>
Just a sarcastic comment (or wishful thinking) on my part. :huh Garmin has been very overt in their marketing of their other IPX7 devices and not listing them as "Motorcycle Friendly". As for the ruggedness of the zumo's, based on my personal experience, they are quite rugged.
Whoa This was for the 62s. REI had it on last night for $279 but now it's showing $399. It is scheduled to be on the anniversary sale starting Friday for $299. meh I'm holding out for a Montana 650t
So, from the above, the mount is powered and audio output is from the hard-wired pigtail to the left of the photo? No mention of BT in the specs as yet. Micro SD card slot for higher res Topo maps too.
I pre-ordered the Montana from Big River and with expected delivery in 2 weeks, may have it in time for FMF. I'll use it to find FMF so if I'm late, you'll know how poor my navigational skills are
"If you are on foot, (or too broke after buying a Montana to get a Bluetooth headset equipped lid) simply plug headphones into Montana’s 3.5mm audio jack to hear the spoken prompts." That implies that the sound comes from the main unit. "Audio wire"? Maybe to feed into other systems>? I was wrong. Sound comes from the base of the car mount or external speakers connected to those audio wires.
