The chain guide is not really necessary if you keep the chain at the right tension.

I tend to keep it on the loose side (always better than to have it too tight) and for peace of mind fitted the chainguide.

Is Touratech a public company? I want to buy some of their share.
Revenue and profit should be pretty good nowdays

I have twice ordered a Touratech catalogue and the bastards haven't sent me one, yet.

Tail tidy.

GB, I was able to use the stock tail lights and plate light without cutting into the stock wiring harness.
I had to drill out the hole for the plate light and drill two smaller holes for their mounting bolts. None of it was tough.
I didn't want to go with the supplies LED lights and the resistors that come with the kit. I have this thing about cutting into wiring harness's.
The whole job took about 1/2 hour start to finish.
I bought it from a Canadian supplier for $115 (including sticker) and have the unopened LEDs if anyone is interested.

Posted before but no thread index so can get lost in the XC threadfest.

1. Loose the snorkel box cover.



opens up a larger aperture as seen here.



2. Toss this rubbish out.



And stick one of these in instead, available in the States from BMW Atlanta, outside of the States from Unifilter in Oz.



3. No place to grab onto the back end of the bike, get a set of handles from bm that fit the xcountry, or make your own like these.



4. It never ends, ditch the stock tyres and get Dunlop D606 on the back and a Maxxis Maxcross IT for the front, I hear good things about the Bridgestone tyres as well.



5. Stock bash plate is about as usefull as a handbrake on a canoe and offers no protection to the water pump and starter motor. As the local Touratech did not have stock, what a suprise, I got an alternative, excellent quality at $110.00 US.



6. For added daylight visibility I made one of these from perspex. $4.28.



7. Remus rulz



That will teach the neighbour to shut the yapping porch shitter dog up.

The last pic also shows my pooratech tail piece mod, works like a bomb.

Also meant to add the Acerbis Multi-Plo Rally bark busters, not sure why some guys cut the lever ends off, these fitted straight on. With hindsight I would have gone for the Cyra as the mounts are better and they are 1/2 the price, anyway that's life. The Acerbis woork well enough.



One thing worth pointing out is that while working on the bike I have noticed that the fasteners are dry as dust so I always put some copperease on the threads before re assembly. The threads are also showing signs of rust?:huh

When you pulled the airbox cover and installed the pipe, did the FI compensate for the changes?
When I pulled my airbox cover, the bike sounded like it had an exhaust leak. Maybe it's the stock filter?

Gadget Boy I'll get that link for you Friday AM my time and PM you. RobbieO I think that you may be hearing the bike breathing a sigh of relief at the extra air intake, it does make more noise in the air box, but worth it. No problems with the extra air.

The upside to the bash plate is that it comes std with a rubber pad and no holes underneath for dirt and muck, downside is that you need to take it off to get at the sump plug. I prefer it protected behind the plate myself.
