few edits needed, do a search here under Dakar on this Aussie forum, there was a couple of threads (during 2011/212) and some posts which had all the data you are chasing First Aussies were in 1998 Dakar.
No Husabergs started in 2009, 2 started in 2011, pretty sure only 3 starts for 2013 (2 Dutch & 1 Sweden), Lucchese will be on a TM not a Husaberg
Thanks I'll look SB, let me know if you see any blatant errors you are aware off. The 2006 to 2013 are sources from the official Dakar site, but that does not make them correct. 2003 to 2006 from Statistiks see http://statistiks.com/rally-raid/africa/paris-dakar-motos/2004/bike/-/general-standings
Your are right, I have inserted a row in the summary page and it has altered a few numbers. For 2009 I have KTM 122 64 52% YAMAHA 50 22 44% HONDA 24 16 67% BMW 6 3 50% GAS-GAS 4 1 25% BETA 3 2 67% SHERCO 3 2 67% JINCHENG 2 0 0% HUSQVARNA 1 1 100% KAWASAKI 1 1 100% SUZUKI 1 1 100% 217 113 52% I'll find the formula error and repost it
The four riders for 2013 are; 35 BERGLUND THOMAS (SWE) HUSABERG SWE 93 VAN BERGEIJK HENNO (NLD) HUSABERG NLD 98 LUCCHESE MANUEL (ITA) HUSABERG ITA 178 OFFRINGA JAN-WOUTER (NLD) HUSABERG NLD The error for 2009 was a typo, I typed 2 into the bergs rather than Jincheng. Its very easy to mix up the Chinese and Swedish.
Manuel will NOT be on a Husaberg, he has been loaned a TM use, Husaberg pulled the plug on his sponsorship start Dec 1 https://www.facebook.com/#!/manuel.lucchese?fref=ts
Thanks Rallye, I did see Andrew Coaker in 2004 but he was listed as English see http://statistiks.com/rally-raid/africa/paris-dakar-motos/2004/bike/-/stage-1-prologue/results/432. I know he competed in 1998 and the other were prior to 2003. If I could find reliable stats from 1998 to 2003 I would include prior years but I have not been able to find a reliable source.
Besides 2007 do you know what other year? He is not listed in any of the statistics I have access to. Could his first Dakar been prior to 2003?

A key fact is that the Aussie finishers of Dakar are guys who regularly finish the Safari in the top 10, Those riders who dont run at this level in Safari have a low probability of finishing Dakar..................less than 10% chance based on history to date Gives an indicator to the skill level required
With considerable help and ignoring Andrew Scott listed as Canadian in 2010 and Andrew Coaker as an Englishman in 2004, I have added them in so it looks like this. 26 Australians have participated in the Dakar 48 times with 11 aussies (Andrew Coacker,Andy Haydon, Andy Caldecott, Christophe Barriere Varju, David schwarz, Dean nuttall, Jacob Smith, Jamie chittick, Mike Hughes, Rob Pollard, and Simon Pavey) who have finished a total of 21 times.
