    Holy crap that's a lot of great information compiled!

    I just bought Neepuk's 97 Adventure, and am now trying to get up to speed on maintenance and general use of things.

    Does anyone know where I would be able to aquire a shop manual for the 97 Adventure, motor and bike in general? Also the owners manual would be nice to get a hold of. These should help me over the RTFM questions I have now that are probably answered here somplace. Just need to keep searching.

    I will be looking at the referenced bike this weekend. It looks like it is pretty much stock except for lowering the suspension 2", KTM comfort seat, 45T rear sprocket and chain.

    Is $3800 a reasonable price for this?

    General guidelines on what to look for are appreciated.

    I will use this for 300 + mile trips with 50% dirt roads, forest roads, gravel.

    what an awsome list of info!!! i am getting back into riding after 8 years, the 640 adv was the next bike i was planning to buy at that time, of course it was the first year of the adv. the 03 i just bought is everything i hoped it would be i just wish they kept the windscreen, i much prefferd it to the new style.

    thanks for using it! there is a thread (or two) indexed on a windscreen mod that works with the 03 using a replacement windscreen for the F650 (BMW). maybe that will fulfill your needs. :wave

    well meat you should know i have thouroghly looked at all that. i got me some lexan (poly?) and i am experamenting with the heat gun to make my own. i'm also working on making the stock rear rack bigger using the same size tubing, i just cant stop it!! i have a garage full-o tools and i love to tinker.

    i dont know squat about polywho?,, but it would be way cool if dagwood could make a glue-on riser type thing for a windscreen, just to make it a few inches taller and a nicer angle. i would buy it.
