FJ62, like the FJ60's but they came with an automatic transmission, power windows and the uber cool double rectangular headlights. 198,000 on it, had to have the head replaced due to previous owners incredibly bad maintenance plan. Drive it to film sets regularly and I always get a ton of positive comments. Future plans include a new windshield, some reupholstered front seats, transfer case rebuild and a mild suspension lift with some 16" wheels and AT tires.
Oh, and I turned around to snap a couple of crappy cell-phone pics of this '73 in Utah (maybe CO) a couple of months ago. Chris
some sweet LCs in here! I saw 2 really clean FJ40s riding around near Estes Park yesterday. Until moving here I didn't even know they existed without rust! Someday I'd love to have a nice FJ40 or 45 pick up, they just have a huge coolness factor. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/03/quick-drive-behind-the-wheel-of-the-120k-icon-fj45-pickup.html
Where abouts was this? I Need to get back into an fj55... I have an fj40 and an fzj80, use to have 2 fj55 as well.
It was somewhere on 160 in Colorado between Durango and Mesa Verde, judging from where the pics fall on my phone. Looking at a map, I think that it must have been between Hesperus and Mancos. I can shoot you a seven-digit phone number from the for-sale sign, but it was more than two months ago. Let me know in a PM if you want the number. Chris
Oh yea couple of Fj40 with small blocks, last creation was a FJ 62 with a Vortec, nice ride mpgs sucked ass so I have a taco and bikes for now...would love a FJ45.
My new favorite cousin GaVe this to me. 87 FJ60 manual trans 230k very straight new interior. Starts right up but over heats and no smoke out of the exhaust. Also no coolant in oil. Brakes, rubber, radiator all shot. Hasnt been on road in 5 years. A trusted mechanic is saying it needs pretty much everything and quotes $4.5k - 5k to get her back on the road. So? Is it worth it? I have always wanted one and I think I'd drive it another 20 years. I was going to buy a Landrover to tinker with but this may be a better cheaper option.
My oldest son has an 80's something Land Cruiser that has a cummins 4 cylinder turbo diesel installed.. It is a torque monster... and a head turner when he is tooling around Washington DC. People just don't expect to hear a cummins diesel when a Toyota Land Cruiser passes them.
Way cool truck. Looks nice and straight. I can't think of anything on an FJ60 that would cost that much to do. Get a manual and a set of metric wrenches. Everything you mentioned is something you can do in a weekend. Find some local Cruiserheads and buy the beer and they'll get it on the road in no time.
