Had a few more questions about the cooler. 1) Does it increase oil capacity or do you need to add more oil when installing? 2) Not sure on how the oil flows to the engine but is the oil to the cooler after the engine receives its oil and before it returns to the sump or visa versa? Thanks for your time, Jason
This engine family uses submersion-oiled roller bearings in its bottom end, and the small rod end, piston skirts and tranny gears are splash-oiled. The oil pump in this motor pretty much exists solely to serve the cam bearings and operates at a very low pressure (10 PSI, or less). This difference is significant in that a cooler does not interrupt any high-pressure main arteries as it would on an engine with babbit-type bearings. Hence no need for braided stainless or hard lines. More on this later. Any oil not used to feed the cam is bypassed to the crankcase. It is this bypass oil which is being re-routed and cooled. If you're looking to increase CAPACITY rather than cooling I'd suggest a remote oil tank as it takes a pretty massive cooler to even begin to contain any meaningful amount of additional oil. I've measured lots of them and even some quite large multi-pass coolers won't hold more than a few ounces. Mine is no exception.
I tried emailing Lizrdcooler to the email adress he posted, but got a reply that this email no longer exist... Is there a new email or any other way of contact? :huh
Sorry to hear that, he sounded like a cool dude and I read alot of his posts... Is anyone making these oil cooler adapters for a reasonable price, everything Ive seen goes about $250 also really enjoyed that they were made in USA my bike is a tw200
Wait, what happened? Shesaid has been wanting one of these set-ups for a while, and with summer around the corner... MV
There is a team from the TW200forum working on continuing Lizrdbrth's oil cooler line and proceeds helping to benefit his family and I'll post back here as soon as they are ready to ship
Old thread, I know, but for the next guy: http://tw200forum.com/forum/performance-customization/16597-sale-oil-coolers.html That's the post from the TW forum for the guy who's making these now.
