Well, finally I got it! :rofl

I thought that maybe this could be a thread where all the 660rallye owners can expose their bikes, pics, mods, etc.

Mine is a 2002 660 which ran the 2003 dakar and part of the 2005.
It come with ICO trip, roadbook, ohlins steer damper, non-factory 48mm WP front forks, fiberglass fairing, and ohlins rear shock.

The engine bike responses as an MX one. It goes up on the RPM faster and agressively (i love it). Brakes and suspension are also great. And the sound... uffff :ear:ear:ear it's like heaven on wheels!!
I don't know much about these bikes. I owned It one month ago. I had a 2008 450crf-x which I changed for this rally bike, but never before had a bike like this one. I have been always ridding Mx and enduro bikes.

    I post some pictures!

    Great thread.

I have a 2002 660 Rally here in Mongolia did a overhaul last winter as my brother planned to use the bike in Rally Mongolia 2013, sorry to say that he needed to pull out from the race day 5 due to a bearing failure in transmission will post some pictures later on about the overhaul and Rally Mongolia.

Do anybody have any engine spares left over, like piston crank oilpumps or complete engine ?

don't know what you mean. Factory bike has diffrent rear tanks, battery behind the engine, 660-720 ccm, etc. But it dependce on the model year.

Can you tell me what the 709 is like to ride compared to the 660. I have an 02 660 but would be interested in more power or at least a broader delivery. The 660 is nice but very 2 stroke like in power delivery. Maybe I have a tuning issue although each of those pipes only services 1 exhaust valve, with no balance pipe. I am told the factory engines had Ti conrods. 5 speed or 6? Thanks.

Are these Dakar bikes using a 300 or 320mm dia. front brake rotor?

300mm, but the newer 660/690/450 Rallys (2004+ I think?) also have a caliper with 2 bigger pistons.

Any suggestions on using a special paint or imprimation for painting both front and rear tanks?
The actual paint that my bike has is starting to tear and blow, obviously for the fuel vapours that could escape the micro-gaps of the tank walls.

I've seen nice paintings on blue, green, yellow, but i don't know how they painted the tanks and if they have the same problem than me.

    some examples:

Soda blast the tanks to thoroughly clean off all of the old paint off.
To repaint use adhesion promotor then etch primer before final coating.
But the trick is to only paint the fronts of the tanks, you need to leave the backs clear to vent fuel vapor. No paint bubbling !!!!
