I have an '06 1200GS that has a problem with the throttle cable not releasing when I take my hand off the throttle. Makes for exciting rides! How much work is it to lube the throttle cable, and should I purchase a special lubricant? I've got a Haynes manual for the bike but the section on lubing the trhottle cable isn't much help. Any advice will be appreciated.
Is it the cable or the grip. Did you install crashbar and the grip rubber rubs on it? Did you drop the bike?:huh
Had the tank off recently? Double check along the length of the cable for making sure it's not pinched.
Also make sure that it's not the cables at the throttle body - there is a plate that covers the cable on either side - you'll find it directly below the throttle body synchronization nuts. My buddy's popped up after riding Tomichi Pass in CO. The throttle would lock wide open until we figured out that the plate was preventing the throttle from releasing. Good luck -ACS
