May as well start this out right, with the latest new full-timer. Nick dePaolo and Artie Lange interview Danica Patrick, and after watching this you'll admire her sense of humor and Man is she good looking I haven't mastered embedding with an iPad so here are links to parts 1 and 2 http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=jPqjEo-Wl3I&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DjPqjEo-Wl3I http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=6IPyIdP39-A&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D6IPyIdP39-A
I see that the NASCAR Camping World Truck series has added a race at Eldora Speedway for 2013. It will be run on Wednesday night during Indy NASCAR week. Hmmmmmm, 1/2 mile high banked clay oval. Ought to be fun. Thoughts?
It will probably be pretty boring. They will prep the track to be dry and slick, and maybe, MAYBE, it will get a blue groove and produce some racing, but I doubt it. And if they step out of that undoubtedly narrow groove it's going to be an express ride into the wall. Youtube ARCA Springfield Mile and you'll get an idea of what's in store.
Comparing the flat 1 mile oval at Springfield to the high banked 1/2 mile at Eldora is like that apples and oranges thing. Springfield is designed as a horse track, Eldora as a car track.
Yep, and not only that it will be in Canada!!? Sept 1st at the Canadian Tire Motorcsports Park in Ontario will be the only road course on the 2013 truck schedule. By the way, Eldora is a night race too!?!
The trucks have race on Road Courses in the past. Evergreen, Watkins Glen Topeka and now Canada Yes, we even raced in the Rain Real Racing. Go Figure
So, after nearly two years away due to rotten races and general hokiness, I'm watching the Sprint Unlimited race in Daytona tonight. The Good: The new car looks great. Hopefully it'll race that way, too. Brad Keselowski is good on TV, but they should let him do shots during the commercial breaks. The Bad: The race format is lame and contrived. Choose Miss Sprint Cup's firesuit? WTF? Ol' DW makes my brain sad. I'll be interested to see how the 500 goes next Sunday.
