Some info I thought I would throw up...

I bought my SV in April, and currently have about 3xxx miles on the bike.

The stock Dunlop 220's only lasted me about 2600 miles, about 3400 miles less than I expected.

I run 87 Octane in the bike and while commuting I usually average 57 MPG, when Im romping in West Virginia it is less. I can usually get about 190+ out of a tank and commuting I can get about 210

A question for all of the dual spark SV owners, what kind of miles per gallon do you get? And how different is the gearing from the DL 650?

That's about what I get too. The freeway's are 75mph here so it's 40 on those, but 55ish on 65mph or slower.

If I want a sporty bike with insane midrange that's great on the track, should I get an SV650, SV1000, TL1000R, TL1000s, or DL1000?

My MPG from the SV sucks.

(Of course, the only time it gets ridden is on the track. :rofl)

I am running Pirelli Diablo Strada's on my Gen 1 SV650. Rear tire made it about 7k miles and front will have about 8500 on it when I change it this week.

My bike regularly gets 57mpg commuting , and on weekend rides its anywhere from 50-63mpg depending on who I ride with and where we are riding.

great bikes, plenty of fun. They do need suspension work though. Mine will get a GSXR fork swap this winter. It already has the gsxr rear shock.

I guess I can finally come out of lurk mode for this thread.

I love my SV, its really been a great bike and has done everything I've asked of it from trackdays, to sport-touring, even some dirt roads. It's also been very reliable. So far, I've put over 60k on it with very few problems, just maintenance items really.

I have upgraded the suspension with a gixxer front end and a 636 shock. Suspension completely transforms a SV and is worth ever cent. Right now, my SV is set up for sport-touring with a givi truck and windscreen. I think it'll see 100k before I replace it.

Here is a pic of the latest incarnation of my SV:

I had been considering changing to the SV. I have the DL and may go back to another one. I can get 14k on the rear and 16k on the front with tourances. Suddenly the wind buffeting issue isn't much of an issue:rofl

    Thank you for the info.

No problem, nice info on the tourances. I am picking up a Dl650 this fall/winter. Well sooner if my jeep sells.

I have my SV set up for commuting and sport touring. I just installed a set of Cortech Sport saddlebags. and I have a givi rack & 45L topcase I can install for long trips. Other than suspension work there isnt much I would change about the SV. Its comfortable, reliable, cheap to maintain and fun to ride.

I would recomend the 650s, I bought my SV for that reason, I have a couple buddies that are Wera Expert racers on SV650's and they swear by them on the track....
